What's the one hill you will die on when it comes to movies or tv? The one opinion you will not waver on althouh almost everyone disagrees with you about it?
Mine:
Tombstone is not a western. But Copland is.
Tombstone is an action film that takes place in the old west.
Copland is a western that takes place in modern day Jersey.
The Western genre is not defined by the setting, but the tone and theme. AS Kurosawa said: The Western is the greatest contribution America ever gave to film was the Western. It's an un-heroic display of heroism.
Tombstone glorifies the characters and their actions, depicting them to be legendary mythical beings.
Copland shows a regular joe who has done nothing remotely exceptional in his life, rise to the occasion for once. And nothing in his life really changes, except for his own feeling of self worth.
This is the dumbest fricking shite I’ve ever read. Wyatt Earp is an American legend. As is Doc Holiday.

Meryl Streep is an acting-school actress -- all the right mannerisms, but never the right manner. Her accents are shitty too.
Her popularity baffles me.
Thank God I'm not the only one. Couldn't agree more. She's a horrible actress.

Dottie didn’t drop it on purpose, at least nothing in the movie leading up to it gives us that indication. You have to put your own personal opinions in there to say otherwise. I’m entrenched on this hill and have built a machine gun nest of facts from the movie, examples of other movies, and specific details that support my claims.

You're goddamned right.
Yeah...I know the whole "you need to let your little brother win sometimes" at the beginning of the movie is the supposed "tell", but she also tells the younger brother to kill him.
To drop it on purpose would be completely contrary to her character.
Why would she fricking come back just to throw the last game?
She tried to strike her out by giving the dope on her weakness to Ellen Sue.
It would also destroy the entire narrative for Kit...that she finally EARNED something and beat Dottie on even terms.
bullshite.

Lost is the greatest tv series ever made and the finale was great.
Agreed. It’s the best use of the medium of TV. If you wanted every question answered I understand your disappointment. If you were watching for a character study, it’s brilliant.

Oceans 12 is a really good movie.
Agreed. If you realize that they knew the con, before the Frenchie even knew what he was going to propose as a heist, it’s fairly brilliant. It was just shown in a bit too artsy way.
And I don’t hate on the Julia Robert’s cameo. It’s not something you can do easily or often but I didn’t mind it.
Another hill of my own: I think that there should be awards for best executed movie. Sometimes there are movies that are just done so brilliantly and executed to a perfect picture of the director but don’t lend themselves to award season.
Crazy Stupid Love
Tropic Thunder
Catching Fire
21 Jump Street
Wind River
Dredd
About Time
Mad Max: Fury Road
Warrior
Riddick
Everything about those movies are perfect to me from a directorial standpoint. Most have critical acclaim, but they just seem to be movies where I completely get what the director was going for. They don’t drag at all.

The Last Action Hero is a classic movie that was way ahead of its time.

Woody Allen is the most overrated hack writer and director of all time. He’s been nominated for Best Original Screenplay more than double the amount of times that the next closest writer has, which is totally fricking insane. I’m convinced at this point that Woody could plagiarize Mein Kampf and it would still get nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

The Big Lebowski is not a great movie. It’s “aight” at best. The only truly good scene is the “ashes” scene.
I don’t know if I could be friends with someone who doesn’t find the Mark It Zero scene hilarious.

Ummm, most people. Coco is a masterpiece. I can understand someone enjoying Moana more than Coco because Moana is really upbeat, catchy, and it’s two main characters are very likable while Coco is dark, sad, and foreboding. Moana is really good, but not on the levels Coco aspires and really succeeds to be. Plus Remember Me is Disney’s most brilliant song since Hellfire in that it can be told in 3 separate contexts and convey a completely different meaning each time. There’s no emotional high anywhere near this moment:

Erica Durance is the one true Lois Lane. All other live action iterations suck mega donkey balls.

And the plot and storyline and everything that happened before and said and done before the hit.
Plus Dottie doesn't have to drop the ball to make Kit a hero. If she tags her out, Kit has still tied the game.
I don't care what the Director has said, if her dropping it on purpose was that intention, they're horrible storytellers that give the audience a cheap Switcharoo.
Going contrary to everything established in the film even against the last minute...for a last second change of character who betrays her teammates...Miss loyalty who leaves the team for her husband but comes back out of loyalty to her team and coach is going to screw them in the end?
Its a false movie if Penny Marshall says she dropped it on purpose because 100% of the movie leads to the opposite conclusion until the final seconds. Plus it makes Dottie the worst teammate of all-time...who abandons her team, only to come back and throw the game.

She changed. Character development.
In that moment, she decided to let go...figuratively and literally.
Dottie is arguably the greatest woman’s player in history, and if u think she couldn’t handle that routine play, then you don’t respect women.
