What’s a good margarita recipe?

I don’t remember the last time a made a margarita. Which may be a sign I made good ones. But I don’t know what I did. I have some Hornitos, Silver Patron and regular Ole Jose. No cointreau but have Triple Sec. Plenty of fruits and things. Anything I can do to kick it up a notch or keep it simple? Tia

2 tequila/1 lime/.5 triple sec. juice your lime (1oz), double that with tequila (2oz), half the lime juice with triple sec(.5 oz). Add more triple sec if u want it a little sweeter. Basically a Tommy’s margarita. Agave syrup is better than triple sec but that will work for what you have on hand.

Thanks. Is either of those 2 clear Tequilas better than the other? Not a big tequila guy

Patron is probably the best if those.

Silver tequila, fresh squeezed lime, agave nectar, floater of Grand Marnier.
Rocks, no salt.
ETA: Just read that you're using what's on hand. I would use the Patron first

Take a glass, put some ice in the glass, fill that bitch up with tequila and add a squeeze of lime. That’s the best way to achieve the best results.

1oz fresh lime juice
.5oz dry curaçao

Hornitos is the best of those listed.

If I’m making a Rita, I like tres agaves blanco. Cheap and smooth

That’s another cheap go to.
Personally, I stick with hornitos as my cheap go to. $23 a bottle is a steal.

1/3 blanco or reposado 100% agave tequila

Salt or no salt, either way works
Another one i love
Fresh mangos, cubed

Orange juice
Some jalapeno slices, no seeds (unless you love pain)
A bunch of fresh mint leaves
Buncha tequila
Agave
A big handful of ice cubes
Blend until smooth
1/3 fresh lime
1/3 fresh orange
1/3 blanco or reposado 100% agave tequila

For a lot of drinks I like to use a 2-1-.75-.75 parts recipe. So, for a marg, it would be 2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 3/4 oz fresh lime juice and 3/4 oz agave nectar. Everyone is talking about the tequila and obviously it’s the star of the show, but to make any quality cocktail, all of the ingredients need to be quality. Fresh squeezed lime juice and imo Tres Agaves Agave Nectar are musts.
That parts recipe works for other simple drinks like cosmos (citrus vodka, triple, cranberry and lime) and lemon drops (citrus vodka, triple, lemon and simple). Have made thousands of all three of these with these recipes.
Cheers and Happy Cinco!

Simple recipe (we discovered from the head bartender at the Four Seasons in NYC during a virtual bartending class last summer during COVID) - 2 ozs of a good tequila (I like Avion Silver Tequila), fresh juice from one squeezed small lime, 1 ounce (or .75 ounces if too sweet for you) of simple syrup (or substitute Agave syrup - my wife prefers agave). Don't use triple sec. Shake hard with large ice in a shaker, strain ice and pour over a large ice cub (like an old fashion ice cube). Always use less simple syrup or agave starting out, as you can add more to taste depending upon your sweetness taste. Also, the taste and quality depends upon the quality of the lime juice and the tequila. Use fresh squeezed limes. Cheers

If I remember correctly this is the way Margarita's were made at the Old Tulane Ave. bar "Nick's" and they were great!

I like Hornitos and started last summer throwing in some Blood Orange juice along with my lime and really enjoyed the results.
