Keep the DP in play. Not getting the runner at 3rd.
Grrrrr.

Yep. It was a dumb play. The guy going to 3rd was irrelevant anyway
Edit to say: Not only did it not keep the double play in order, but it cost us a run on the last base hit. Damn!

Yup - it's 5-3 right now instead of 5-4.
We are terrible at situational ball.

Only reason Bianco is there is his exceptional baseball knowledge. Guess he over thought that one.

He’s done that more than once this season. Must have thrown out a slow kid at third one time in high school.

YES!! He doesn't have a very strong arm and that was hit pretty deep. No chance to get the guy at 3rd, but could either get the guy out at 2nd if he really went or force him back to 1st to keep the DP in order.

Let's see Bianco can't hit his weight he can't throw he can't play defense he can't run, so start him in CF and leave Sanford on the bench.

But Hampton couldn’t get any playing time.

For a coach's son, he sure makes some stupid decisions.

What Hampton wanted was a guaranteed position. Outside of Bregman Maineri has always said players had to work and earn their position. IF Hampton would have stayed instead of quitting I have not doubt he would have won the everyday job when Gio went down. But instead of sticking it out and working for it he quit.
No one on this team has played up to or beyond their expectations. Everyone has had errors, they have all thrown to the wrong spot during the season. And damn the base running mistakes. The best description of this team is they are consistently inconsistent and its frustrating.
Hopefully next year with a new coach they will actually coach the kids up and help correct their mental mistakes. These kids seem to be trying way to hard to compensate for the lack of leadership.

Go back and check the timeline on when Gio got hurt, how many guys were given playing time in CF after that injury, and when Hampton left.

Doughty has IMO. Certainly Crews and Morgan. Marceaux and Labas.

Crews, Morgan, and the two pitchers yes.
Doughty's batting has struggled in league play and is tied for the most errors as well. And if Morgan wouldn't be as good as he is Doughty's errors would be double that at least.
As far as the everyone makes errors, I was referring to when Drew makes one everyone wants him benched, but this whole team has made the same bad plays.

Again Maineri was putting him in at times, he just would not give him the starting position. IF he would have stayed he would have ended up with it. I am not taking up for Maineri, but he has never promised anyone they would just have a starting position.
Again Hampton quit which shows that he did not want to prove he would put the work to earn that spot.

Doughty is not very good at 3rs base.

Mainieri kept putting Bianco in at centerfield over Hampton. For that reason Hampton is taking his first round talent elsewhere. Meanwhile, Paul is riding Bianco into forced retirement.

At the end of the day, Bianco should have been a C. He would probably be pretty stellar there and starting for us over Milazzo.
Bianco has some tools, just not elite field tools.
Growing up with a baseball dad, I’m sure he was clearly the best kid on all his teams, which is why he ended up SS until college. But his ceiling as a fielder was HS level.
Had he trained all his life as a C, I think he’d still be a D1 starter.
Unfortunately CPP puts him in all over the place at wierd times and it doesn’t help the public’s perception of him. It’s hurt him quite a lot.

And other players as well. Which tells me he was loyal to the guys that were there through the fall and early spring. And maybe Hampton wasn't quite where he should have been coming from football. I still believe if he would have stayed he would have won that spot. But he quit.

I agree.

What this says to me, more than a dig on Bianco, is that they don’t practice fundamentals and situational baseball. Baseball, after all, is a game of repetition. CPM’s teams, throughout his tenure, have not played fundamental baseball.
