Odds our backwards state goes forward with the recreational mj legalization? Thoughts? Valid arguments against after seeing success other states having? I don’t smoke myself but scares me a lot less than the prescription drugs I see so many on.

Republican congressman are going to get it passed, and then it’ll get vetoed by our democratic governor. Welcome to Louisiana politics folks

The religious right and law enforcement are no way in hell letting this pass

that will be true right up until the time when it won’t be true.
it is inevitable nationwide and on the state level. The right side of this debate is so patently obvious that even hypocrites will have to step aside

Louisiana is a major prison state. Would lose too much money if legalized

There are no Congressmen in the state legislature.

I thought that I read that a lot of the tax revenue created would go to law enforcement and prisons, thus killing much of the opposition. Is that correct?

I thought the same about Oklahoma and it’s happening there. It’s basically recreational there. There’s dispensaries on every corner. Oklahoma is way more conservative than Louisiana too.

The measure has strong support on both sides of the aisle. There are stone old schoolers who will get support to block but This is a long term play. It won’t pass this year but is likely to be passed next year or year after

Sounds like you don’t know too many religious right people in Louisiana. More conservatives are for legalization in this state than are against it.

Might be true for individual citizens. But not necessarily for the lawmakers.
