331 million people in the US now.

Louisiana total: 4,648,794

Largest Parishes:
1. East Baton Rouge 443,763
2 Jefferson 434,850
3. Orleans 390,845
4. St Tammany 255,155
5. Caddo 245,831
6. Lafayette 241,973
7. Calcasieu 201,619
8. Ouachita 155,494

Sobering fact:

New Orleans population in 1960: 627,525
New Orleans population in 2020: 390,845

New Orleans is down 236,680 people from its high water mark. It's still down 93,829 from the census before Katrina.

Census Bureau announces 331 million people in US, Texas will add two congressional seats

LINK

(CNN)The US Census Bureau announced Monday that the total population of the United States has topped 331 million people, marking the country's second slowest population growth rate in US history. Amid that, Texas will gain two seats in the redistricting process, the results found.

Additionally, Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon will each gain one seat in Congress.
California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will all lose congressional seats ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
The results -- which show that political power in the country is shifting from states in the Midwest and Northeast to those in the South and West -- will have wide-ranging impacts on numerous aspects of American life, ranging from each state's representation in Congress to the amount of money each state will get from the federal government. The numbers could shift the political makeup of Congress and set up what will likely be contentious redistricting battles in the coming months.

Hispanics will start voting conservative if they keep pushing for racial equity.

I'm surprised and impressed.

Texas is kicking arse! Also, 331 million people....we'll be pushing 500 million in 15-20 years.

New York state was 89 short of the threshold to NOT lose a seat. So they lost a seat.

Baton Rouge was stagnant which is impressive considering the flood. East Baton Rouge is still the largest parish.

hopefully not. our population growth is unsustainable unless drastic changes (which neither of the major political parties are willing to do) are made.

Did Alabama lose any? They’ve added population but below the average growth rate, so they were in danger of losing a seat. (Seats in Congress are statutorily limited to 435, so it’s possible to add people but still lose Congressional representatives.)

Seems like a great thing but the increase is due to all the progs moving there from California and other blue states.

count me as 1 of the reasons Orleans Parish went down

although at the moment I forget if I was already out of Orleans and in Lafayette Parish when the 2010 census was completed (I think I was in Orleans for the 2010 Census but not 100% sure about it)

though this year I helped boost Rapides Parish's number
