Second Amendment

LINK
I periodically read articles, such as that linked above, asserting that due to the Second Amendment, Americans will never be dis-armed. I suppose that the real point of such articles is that our Freedoms are somehow guaranteed against deprivation by the government< as a result of our right to "keep and bear arms" (Second Amendment). Just as in Nazi Germany, however, a tyrannical government will not come for all of ours guns, all at once. Rather, we could expect the approach taken by the Naziis - the late night knock on the door and demand for our weapons - one gun-owner at a time. If three agents of our corrupt FBI show up at my or your front door at 1 a.m. one night soon and demand all of our guns, how will the Second Amendment or anything else protect us from tyranny at that moment? I have posed this issue to any number of commentors or pundits, and not one has ever even attempted to answer over the past year where this has become a very real concern. With the gov't already colluding with twitter and facebook to remove even a President's right of free speech, are we to believe that the gov't can't and won't equally destroy our 2nd Amendment "right to keep and bear arms"? After January 6, the former III%-ers Second Amendment supporters quickly just disbanded and went away into the dark night. Any thoughts?

You will have to take a stand. I know it’s easier said than done, but we are at war. Soldiers die at war for freedom.

First of all, where’s the warrant, let me call my lawyer, then, people die..... this is what will happen, so I doubt it happens, much....

Without a constitutionally aligned reason to do so, they’ll pry my weapons from my cold dead hands. They’d best bring more than three, however, because I’ll take as many as possible to hell with me.

It's an interesting point. If there was a large scale, mobilized push to walk into neighborhoods and begin confiscating arms, I would guarantee you there would be violent push back by citizens.
On the other hand, if it's a slow move with police going into individual homes one at a time over the course of a few years and seizing firearms under the guise of some public safety issue, fighting back in those cases actually makes it look as if the government was correct, rather than it being the exact same situation in slow motion.

At that very moment—as things currently stand—I don’t know that it would.
You’d be more likely to win a court case after the fact.
Which is chilling, since that’s not the way the 2A works.
This country is broken beyond repair.

I think the key will have to be really good Sherrif's and police chiefs. Also will have to start organizing some for of neighborhood watch groups.

Excellent answer. Thanks.

Yeah...because recent events have given me lots of confidence in the justice system. Not.

I didn’t say he would win; I said he’d be more likely.
I agree with you completely.
He’d likely lose.

A simple question for each of us to contemplate.
If those agents, or some other criminal gang, appeared crashing through your door in the middle of the night like they did to Roger Stone, how many are truly prepared to defend yourself and your family and how?
Contemplate!

Probably no federal agent is showing up at your door for your guns, and if they did, it sure as heck wouldn’t be a pretty boy FBI agent. There aren’t enough federal agents from all agencies to go door to door for gun grabbing, and if they did, their numbers would quickly be reduced drastically. If they ever successfully outlaw guns like ARs and AKs, they won’t be seized door to door. People will quietly keep them in their homes, and as long as the police aren’t there for another reason (drug search warrant, looking for fugitive etc), you will (illegally) retain your guns. Much like sawed off shotguns right now. Don’t show it off, and don’t break the law, and they’re not coming to your house for it.

Biden has declared that "no amendment is absolute",
so no right is safe.

The scenario is impossible because in order to do so they'd have to have every FBI Agent and LEO in the country in the same page. That isn't going to happen. There would be those that refuse to carry out the orders and would go public about the plan.

Have you ever knocked on a strangers door at 1 AM ? If someone knocks on my door after 7 PM they better not be a stranger.
Posted on 4/24/21 at 1:45 pm to SoDakHawk
Agree it would fail. I can also tell you from experience that it’s very hard to get ONE federal agent to come 120 miles from his office and adopt a case in a rural area. It’s laughable to imagine droves of them going door to door in Ferriday, LA or Ocilla, GA.
