Do you know what property tax is in TX? A bud of mine has a $500K home which by today's standard is above average but not really that high... property tax is $20K per year.

This is complete BS.

Depends on where you live. 2.5%-3.75% of appraisal value is pretty common

That number is fair

If the person lives in a MUD it is probably about right. MUD taxes are stupid.

LSU women's basketball operates at about a $4 million annual loss, and is the biggest money-loser for the LSU athletic department.

Revenue around 500k a year. Pathetic.

Exactly but its due to poor product. Attendance and donations have declined under Nikki unfortunately. LSU has not won a NCAAT game in like 7 or 8 years. LSU has shown they will support winners. If Kim or someone else comes in and starts winning, it wouldn't be such a money pit.

My sources are telling me she's bringing Tyler Summitt as lead recruiter. Staff will be nasty.

Kim Mulkey with Tyler Summitt and Pokey Chatman as her support staff?

I'd like to believe this is true.

Has LSU ever hired a true championship coach of this caliber in any sport? And don't say Saban or Bertman because they built their legacies when they got here. She is already a legend in her sport.

She's probably late 50s so she has time to build a program. She has nothing to prove if she stays at Baylor. It would not shock me, and it's very exciting.

Has anyone been to the Baylor boards? Any chatter there about her leaving?

Our national championship coaches get hired away—Nick Saban, Paul Dietzel, Pat Henry.

We’re usually not the ones doing the hiring.

I’m not really a women’s basketball fan.... but I COULD be. We all could.

Make the hire!

Don't frick with me dude.

I've been the ringleader on here for YEARS, calling for KIM to be the Women's Basketball Coach at LSU.

Yes. LSU was ridiculously overpaying the previous coach and wasted substantial money on this sport. That’s why they should focus on finding a younger, up and coming coach that will be cheaper to acquire, and then reward them if the results warrant it.

It will be absurdly expensive to get mulkey to LSU with the salary demands she’ll have for herself and her staff, facility upgrades she’ll want, etc. These substantial expenses will be eating into whatever increased revenue she would be generating.

Yea, this is the thing I don't get. All these guys on here talking about revenue and expenses and whatnot. Sometimes I wonder if some of y'all are younger than 30 years old. It really hasn't been that long since we had those consistent final four teams and you had crowds like this for big games..........

LSU vs Tennessee 2005

LSU vs MSU 2006

LSU vs Baylor 2006

If you're so concerned with counting LSU's money, you need to recommend that we get rid of EVERY SPORT AT LSU except football and basketball. Otherwise, if you're concerned with ALL SPORTS at LSU being quality, encourage them to hire the BEST COACHES, period.

I have a hard time believing Mulkey would come here, mainly because I'm not sure LSU would be willing to match her $2.2 million/year salary, or that she really has much interest in building another program. She has one of the three best programs in women's college basketball RIGHT NOW, and has won 3 NCAA championships the past 15 years, including the one we lost to them in '05.

I think it would be a great hire, I just can't see it happening................

That’s not realistic though. The other non-football and MBB sports don’t have coaches commanding multi-million dollar salaries.

The wbb team operates like it’s a revenue producing sport. It’s not, and not even close. It’s absurd to have ~$5 million in operating expenses to support a team of 15 athletes that doesn’t make money.

And again, even if mulkey were to go to lsu and make them successful:

1. The operating expenses are going to significantly increase.
2. LSU doesn’t need the national brand exposure from WBB the way places like UConn and Baylor do. Thy get it from football.

There is no free lunch. We pay low income and prop taxes and real high sales taxes. TX pays no income and very high property tax.

The property tax ignorance of people living in La is ridiculous. You drive on crappy roads and pay private school tuition but get raging cases of angina when you hear about TX property tax. We may not like signing the check every year but we know exactly what we get in return for every dollar.
