Car ‘broke down’ last night, crazy failure.

Went to Moss Point MS last night for a District track meet...leaving town, go under I-10 and take a left to get on the on-ramp, gas it...and my car shits the bed, throws high temp, low coolant warnings...I shut her down right as the merge lane ends.
Open it up and see the bottom coolant hose is disconnected from the engine side, water pump. Coolant is completely gone.
In January I did a coolant system overhaul, reservoir tank and hoses..., but as I worked my way through the hoses I get to this failed fitting. I could not get that damn thing off. It has a metal securing clamp that needs to be lifted, then the hose gets pried off. Well I worked on it until I thought I’d break it...and gave up. Well last night it decided to comply and come off.
Call the wife to drive 80 minutes over and, after it cools a bit, drive it the wrong direction down the on ramp to a gas station right there, not a nice area.
I start inspecting the fitting and nothing has failed, I guess I unclamped it in January moved it past the seating zone, and reclamped it. The damn thing was fine. I just put it back on. I get the wife to take me to Advanced Auto to get coolant, re-prime the system...and I’m off again.
Pressure tested it in 4th just to make sure it’s good:

It isn't that crazy. You explained it to us.

Stick to watches bro.

You're getting incredible mileage on that full tank at those speeds.

I'll have a great day knowing this. Thank you.

Wasn’t really a failure either, outside of my coolant being scattered everywhere. Guess I should change that hose out now, I have the replacement.

I'd sympathize with you here, but you're driving an early 2010's BMW... how did you not see this coming?
Why not just break it and put a universal clamp on there? The OEM clamps on almost all cars eventually break anyway under high stress. Happened to a buddy of mine's Honda. Thankfully it was in my driveway when it happened.

Old hose thermally seated to stem. Op removes clamp can’t get hose off. Forgets to put clamp clack on. Over time and cycles of heating and cooling, hose eventually works its way off stem. Op reinstalls hose and clamp. Problem solved.

I was on pins and needles the whole time. Such a great and interesting and cool story, bro.

Subtle I have 2 cars brag.

That hose, apparently, is supposed to be changed from the top side, with others removed...last night I had no choice but to stick my arms in there and do it. Previously I tried from under the car since I had already changed out the top side hoses. Who fricking knew? My right hand and arm are toasty, and that shirt is fricked.

Had all my fittings plasti-dipped and have never had this problem.

I pushed the clamp back down, and it was down at the time of ‘failure’, it just was in front of the ridge that secures it. I must have just gotten the hose off enough to frick up that positive reseating feature.

Here’s the fitting, from the hose I never replaced because I couldn’t get the old one off:
Seems foolproof...well almost.

It would be impossible to hold the camera, inside the steering wheel, without both hands on the wheel. I clearly didn’t take a quality photo.
