If it was a black mom and a black baby you would not care about this story. Since it is a somewhat cute mom and baby you are very interested in this story

what planet does racing a vehicle equate to tazing a man, stealing his car while he holds onto it and then crashing it, causing him to be crushed to death?
The part where neither person gave af about other people's lives. Are you that damn dense?
Even if the intent wasn't yo kill anyone. It happened. They didn't consider who could die if things didn't go like they envisioned it.

Need to bring back hard labor camps for situations like these. 10 years hard labor in the sun is more likely to teach a lesson than 20 years twiddling your thumbs in a jail cell.

From what I have read it sounds like the excessive speeding was a frequent habit of his and more than just a typical teenage boy being unlucky in a moment of recklessness. In fact, according to data collected from his car he had been driving 162 mph on I-75 at some point. Good grief.

Would not be a bad idea but you know everything is so progressive now. Wouldn't be surprised if that fell into cruel.and unusual punishment by today's standards

Nope. They're the eyes of someone realizing they're life is ruined.

This is definitely one of those stupid games stupid prize; made your bed, lay in it; don't do the crime if you can't do the time...24 years may be harsh. But if he took into consideration all the variables that could happen if things went wrong while racing he wouldn't be in this situation. So oh fricking well
So 24 years will rehabilitate him more than 18 years will?
Teenage boy, lack of criminal record, non-violent history. Take away his license and what threat is he to society?
There are murdered who have served less. It’s not a “oh fricking well” situation. That is what’s so wrong with the judicial system. There isn’t any consistency, just people saying “oh fricking well”. Meanwhile murderers, rapist and felons walk our streets, because the system had the same attitude.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

And yet that little a-hole in Texas, Ethan Couch, got away with something like 5 counts of vehicular homicide with nothing more than a slap on the wrist when driving drunk at age 16.
In the now famous case where his lawyers came up with the "Affluenza" defense saying he was too rich and pampered his entire life and didn't understand consequences for his actions he was given probation by the judge that headed the trial.

I agree with the poster who said punish their kids to hold them accountable. Stupid decision on this kid’s part but reap what you sow.

What surprised me is that the sentences run consecutively instead of concurrently.
Is that normal in Florida? In Louisiana most sentences run concurrently.

He deserves to die but got 24 years in the federal pen. I hope they turn him out and burn him with cigarettes every day.
I got temporarily banned for saying people need to be executed, so be careful with this one.

He should get more time, but so should those teens that killed the Pakistani guy.

But yeah. There is a mass incarceration of white males for petty crimes compared to any other demographic.... totally.

"The imprisonment rate of black adults decreased 32% from 2009 to 2019, while the imprisonment rate of Hispanic adults declined 29% and the imprisonment rate for white adults decreased 15%.
