Lots of variables as pointed out ... leisurely floating taking in the elements or paddling for time constraints. Several years ago I met this young kid, Sam Mathieu (23 yrs old) who kayaked the Mississippi River from MN to the GOM. He paddled from 35 miles to 112 miles each day. I met him in Destrehan and took care of him with Cajun groceries. Click on this instagram link to follow his epic 76 day journey with awesome pics, video, and great writing skills ... Sam's solo river run The detailed pics of the river are astounding how they change from crystal clear, to blue, to muddy brown over it's 2400 mile course.
