How do you filter out the fake news vs. real news?

I'm finding myself in more and more 'in the dark' when I'm trying to stay informed with real news vs fake news. There is so much liberal filth out there and it's becoming harder and harder to know what to believe. Some of you don't help because many of you are fear mongers too just with fear from the other side. I guess there is no way for sure to know what to believe anymore but I get lost in rabbit holes that scare the shite out of me and then I realize that I don't know if half that shite is true either. It's hard to explain what I'm trying to get at. The thread above about Big Tech and the Government working together to frick us over is an example of the larger problem that I have. What do I believe? 70% of news is Liberal filth propaganda, 20% is Right wing conspiracy nuts, so how do I filter out that 10% to find out what I need to know to be an informed American without scaring the shite of out of myself in the process by reading this board?
I know, I'm posting this on the board that I'm also talking shite about but there has to be others like me that just don't know what to believe anymore. It damn sure ain't CNN, FOX, or the other 3 letter news stations. Twitter is a cesspool and when I scroll through that mess I lose all hope that humanity will ever be 'normal' again.
Where do I find the truth? How do I recognize the truth when I see it? Any tips?

Depends on the topic. During the fake Russia conspiracy, the guy at Conservative Treehouse was mainly collecting information that was in the public sphere but just wasn't publicized. Court documents, email, depositions, videos, that sort of thing. That stuff was all true and there was never really a reason to doubt it, because much of it was straight from the mouths of the perps.
When you're talking about something like the total number of COVID deaths, there's just no way to know. A lot of stuff you can just assume is false, but that just tells you what the answer isn't, not what the answer is. During all of the election stuff there was just no way to tell what claims were true and what claims weren't, because the media has forfeited its role as some sort of authority. This guy claims there were 10,000 voters registered to an empty lot, you go to NBC and they're not reporting that, but then we know they wouldn't even if it were true. We're in a dangerous time.

You can't just rely on one source. But foreign news can some times be a decent source (daily mail, BBC, AlJazeera), I like Epoch Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Examiner. You have to get the story from a variety of angles then you can get opinions from whoever you like.
But ultimately if you have a good gut for this kind of stuff, you can sniff out bias pretty easy and understand if someone has an agenda or not. At that point take the important or factual parts of their story, but disregard completely any attempts for the journalist to create a narrative. Find the information yourself and form your own narrative, don't rely on Anderson Cooper to do that for you.

I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I tell you that I haven't turned it on in a month. I never really watched much TV or movies to begin with and with sports now pretty much off my radar, I have no reason to turn it on. I used to watch Robin Meade in the mornings for the sole reason that she was hot and usually didn't get too political, but have since cancelled Youtube TV so I don't even watch her anymore.

I agree, we are in a dangerous time and I'm becoming more and more skeptical of things that I used to at least halfway put some confidence in. I recognize that we're in a dangerous time, but I'm not sure what direction to look for clues on how to keep myself informed without scaring the shite out of myself.

In that respect, Mitt Romney serves a useful function. Whenever I am undecided on a problematic issue, it usually is a safe bet to see what Romney says on the matter and take the opposing position.

If there are lots of emotional adjectives, then just know it’s opinion and not real news.
