I ordered a Panga hull from South America and now need to buy an outboard. Where can I get the best price on a Suzuki in the greater New Orleans area? Have a 22.5’ hull and need to get either a 70 or 90 hp.

What did you order? I've been looking at these for a while.

Did you order from Jim in Orlando? I'm considering the 25,but I need to finish building my house before I buy another boat.

If you can hang the motor yourself, you can order it from international marine in S Florida and safe a good bit.

Good luck if you want a Japanese motor. The dealers in S LA won’t even give you a WAG on a delivery date, at least in the higher HP range. Saw on a FB forum today one guy said he ordered his Yamaha in October 2020 and they are telling him delivery in November 2021. Maybe the lower HP range will be easier to come by.

I have a friend looking for a motor and a new motor yamaha or suzuki best he could find was a six month lead time right now. I hope you have better luck than he did in your search for a new motor. If you find one please let us know where my buddy would buy in a heartbeat.

Motor has to be installed by authorized dealer for warranty.

For sure, I’ll post back. Imagine if you’re a guide and blow up a motor? Scary thought.

Six to eight months on most engines right now no matter the brand, better than the 11 month wait I had last year for mine I guess.

Find someone with inventory, tohotsu they seem to have inventory. I hear good things about their smaller engines.

I bought my Zuk 90 here in LC from Lake Area Marine about 5 months ago. Didn't have a problem getting it and felt like a decent deal.

FYI..for the record, I'd at least do the 90. 70 and 90 same block and weight, so you should at least have the extra HP to go along with it.

Yes the 90 is a better option as it is the same weight as the 70 so why not have a bit more power. Only drawback is about $1,500. That doesn’t seem like much but it’s a sweet chart plotter or a basic trolling motor.

Tohatsu is interesting but I’m not familiar enough with their quality, durability, and reliability. They may turn out to be fantastic but it is hard to know for sure. The place I’m buying the hull from is a dealer so I could get a great price and get it mounted there.

Im also tempted to go with tiller steer but I think that would get tiresome over time. I like the simplicity and am used to tiller sailboats but gotta go with the wheel for this one.

Get the Tohatsu. You wont be disappointed. They also made the Nissan outboards.

I've never owned a Tohatsu but see a lot of commercial boats with them. If a guy making a living with it trusts it, I think I would as well.
