Saw one two weeks ago, put feeder out later that day, he showed up when I was doing yard work two days later. Have not seen him since.

How'd you catch it?
Have to think the best option next for cooking would be deep frying whole.

The couple that bought our house in Gulf Coast Alabama has taken some great pictures of the hummingbirds at their bottlebrush. I am in NW Arkansas now and I have a feeder hung up. But being we got snow today and it is forecast to break the record cold temperature tonight I don't think I will see them for a while.

Only seen a couple (2-3) here. Have had feeders up for 2 weeks. I’m ready to a couple dozen using the feeders.

I planted several bottlebrush 3 years ago to see if they would help bring in hummingbirds.
3 weeks ago - no bottlebrush blooms - almost no hummingbirds.
Now - tons of bottlebrush blooms, plenty of hummingbirds.
Not really a surprise, but pretty cool to have it pay off.
Migration is peaking now, lots of cool stuff to see in addition to the hummingbirds. Scarlet Tanagers, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, Summer Tanagers, Indigo Buntings, Blue Grosbeaks, LOTS of different Warblers.

Showed up in Fort Worth a week ago. Hitting cross on back fence along with feeders. They damn near need to pay rent at this point.0

We saw one at Sabine NWR last week. It was all dark except a dull white collar, typically larger than others, and very stationary. Unable to identify or even guess the species.

All day, I've now observed one dickhead male defending all 5 of my feeders. He sits on one branch the entire time and if another hummingbird tries to approach any feeder he runs them off. I think he is also chasing them away from the bottlebrush but I can't see that as well. Cool to watch, but also disappointing in a way that I can't have multiples feeding at once. I'm going to move two of them to different parts of the yard even though it may mean I won't have as good visibility of them.

You only have 1/2 of the equation. Nothing you can do about the other half, especially in Spring.

Plenty at my place NE of BR, 2 feeders up last weekend after hearing them zip around the back yard a few times. There's gotta be 6 or 8 different ones hitting the feeders. Some hover, grab a sip and bolt, others perch on the feeder and guzzle.
I make the juice, 3 parts water to 1 part sugar.
Need some more feeders.

How long will they be around? Thinking about going to pick up a couple feeders at lunch time. Not sure what kind they are. Entire back are green and belly is gray. Maybe female ruby throated?
The gulf coast sees hummingbirds year round. Ruby throated are the only "expected" birds here, and the ones you will see from March to October, but there are a handful of other species that are known to overwinter.
The important thing is that if you are going to put out a feeder, you have to keep it clean and fresh. Changing out the sugar water every day in the summer, every 2-3 days now while the temp is more moderate, once a week or so in the winter.

I have 4-5 hitting up my feeders. They showed up about two weeks ago and I’m pretty convinced that at least one of them was around my place last year because the first one I saw went and checked out where the feeder was hung last year and not finding the feeder he proceeded to hover right in front of my face wile squeaking like they do. I put the feeder out and he was on it within minutes. Have seen at least 4 different ones fighting over the feeder.
Edit to add I live in Cut Off.

Yesterday, I had house finches and a downy woodpecker using my feeders.

We live 30 minutes NE of Nashville, about 20 miles from Ky line. My wife had a male Ruby Throat buzz her this past week. She put out the feeders, but has not seen any again. This was before the cold front.
Our Chimney Swifts have returned, as has the Barn Swallows.
Our Bluebird nest has four eggs.
