On the beach, 1 Br, nice recommendation for a short 3 day trip with the wife. Phoenix? Which one and what other places recommended?

Just stayed at the Lodge at Gulf State Park. It’s a cool spot. The beach to the east is desolate...

Haven't been to the others, but Phoenix V is more of a family one; so if no small kids avoid this one.

Was very nice.
Lotsa trails for hiking, running, &/or biking on the landward side (~28 miles)
I’ll add a pic I took later today.
As promised:

This is a good idea, especially if the OP is only planning to stay 2 or 3 nights. The cleaning fees, etc are kind of expensive at condos for such short trips.

They're usually booked up a year in advance.

I usually stay around Phoenix 6 or 7 for Mullet Toss. A 2 bedroom 2.5 bath for Friday - Monday is $1078 this year. 4/23 - 4/26.
Same dates at The Lodge $1120.
You get a full kitchen at a Phoenix condo.

I had to go through Orbitz to stay last weekend. IDK why, but their website was sold out when Orbitz the wasn’t. Got a King with bunk beds, facing the park (and loud arse road)...but I didn’t book until Monday the week of.

I would say drive the extra few miles and stay in Pensacola Beach or Navarre Beach, rent a house through Airbnb, and not have to deal with the condo life.

Check Airbnb
We stayed at a nice town house type thing in gulf shores when we went in November - but it was 3 bedroom

Rent a house in Fort Morgan, on the bay side, with a pier. There are many..

We always stay at the Caribe or Turquoise when in GS/OB. Turquoise is on the beach where Caribe is on the bay-side. If you are looking for immediate beach access, Turquoise is the way to go.
