When did it become ok to litter?
The roads and highways look like shite because people can't wait until they get home or to a trash can to throw crap away.

The back of my property runs along a decently busy highway.

The amount of trash I pick up prior to cutting the grass along the road is infuriating

My best guess is that its stuff flying out of people's truck beds

No tailgating this year AKA no MIPS requiring community service

I got hit with trash yesterday because people with trucks think trash doesn't fly out when they're going 60

I saw someone dump bags of fast food out of their window while driving down the high way one time and contemplated following them home and dumping all the trash in my car on their vehicle.

I always have the daydream about jumping out at a stoplight and throwing the shite back into their car, especially smokers

I think you mean, when did it become ok AGAIN to litter. Littering was par for the course back in the day...it's why there were huge PSAs about it back in the early 70's.

I often run along a busy Hwy that runs by my house, so I see plenty of liter. I pass an empty beer can or bottle every ten feet or so. Not getting an open container violation is a big incentive for certain people to litter apparently.

Someone does this on my street once a week at least. Always the same thing (Big Mac meal) so I'm assuming it's someone that lives nearby. I don't understand how someone could trash the same area that they live in and see every day. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm getting pissed off again.

Not sure what the fine is elsewhere but it's like 25 bucks here. Also goes to show how much drinking and driving is going on.

Need to get the chain gang back on it.

People just don't have pride anymore.

Hasn’t happened to me lately but people are bad about discarding throw away items into the bed of the nearest pickup.

Same here. A few times a month at one of the entrances to my neighborhood is a giant mess. Like two or three people were eating fast food and trying to get rid of the evidence before they get home. There are always beer cans and I just assume it is the same thing: teenagers disposing of the evidence before they get home. But the full Zaxby's or McDonald's bags are a head scratcher.

Can't speak for any of you but I asked around in Bogalusa. The local prison has a trustee team that cleans the roadways in WP. They haven't been picking up because of the close contact risk in the van they travel in.

I don't understand that. I mean, aren't they in closer quarters in prison? But whatever.

This is what I was afraid of. Trash along the roadways has gotten really bad and I hadn't noticed the prisoners/community service people picking up lately.

I once saw a 20 year old get a citation for MIP and have to go to a responsible drinking class. The class was after her birthday.

Nice to see the government using its resources so sensibly.
