Looking to buy a golf cart, will be parked in garage. Something that will only be used to ride around in the neighborhood. Won’t be bringing it anywhere.
Want a small one the can ride 4 people.
What’s the pros cons of battery vs gas golf carts? And the money difference.

Battery is way to go for this in my opinion. Quiet, plenty of power, and you just have to maintain/charge the batteries.
Maintenance is really just keeping them filled with distilled water and ensuring the connections are tight and corrosion free about once a month

As long as you use it and buy club car or better, electric is ideal.

Edit. Brain fart. Electric.

gas is a little louder

you have to replace batteries every 2-5yrs and it's between 500-900 to do so.

I'd rather have gas.

Gas vs Battery golf cart advice

I have a club car battery with Trojan batteries. Nothing wrong with it and its great. But if I could do it over again, I would have gone with gas. They aren't very loud, anyway.

If I ever get another, it will be gas for sure. I had an electric and the batteries went bad twice and I rarely missed a weekly maintenance on them. My buddy has had a gas for 6 years and has done nothing outside of routine maintenance and it still runs perfectly. I know others with similar experiences with gas. While they may be louder than electric, they aren't that loud.

My work has about 30 gas carts, they are abused everyday with very little maintenance. The one with the most miles has been here since Katrina and still running strong, the body and seats haven't lasted as well as the motor. Unless I was looking for Ultra Quiet I would go with gas.

Electric. No gas to worry about, just pull in the garage and plug it in.

I’ve have both and perfect gas by a long shot. I live in Orange Beach, and during tourist season I won’t get in my truck on the weekends, we take the golf cart everywhere. Yes gas is louder, but I prefer the peace of mind knowing that I can just pull in to a gas station a fill up the tank if I am out and about and get low on fuel. Can’t really do that with electric.

I have an electric golf cart with Trojan batteries. Really like it. I have the watering system to make it easier to water the batteries. Well worth the $100.

Club Cart is the Cadillac of golf carts. Yamaha is high quality as well. Both are about $1-2k more than generic manufacturers (which is what I have)

Does anyone know how to charge the battery after it has gone all dead?

I head there as a way to reverse the polarity on the main battery and then switch it back, to allow the rest to charge.

I have battery and like it. But if I was buying again, I’d prob consider gas a little more.

A. You can ride for days On a single tank
B. More torque for the beach, we take ours to grand isle and it struggles in loose sand.

The newer gas yammys are essentially silent, check em out.

Also I recommend smart carts in Bro bridge, best selection and prices I found.

Like others have said, make sure to check water and connections every month. I lost an entire set of batteries by neglecting, $700 lesson learnt.

I got a Yamaha electric and put a riot kit in it with lithium batteries.

Could not be happier. I’ve ridden in plenty gas carts and I’m definitely in the camp that likes lithium powered electric over gas in every way.

If you go electric, EZGO RXV. That is your only option. 48v.

I have a 2017 EZ-Go S4 in prisitine condition for sale. It has been garage kept for its entire life and I put new 48v lithiums in it this past October. It is street legal with blinkers, mirrors and tail lights. LED light package and speakers as well.

It’s in your price range and if you are interested I can send you some pics.

Years ago I would have said electric, but just before I got out of the Air Force I roomed with a guy who’s hobby was buying stuff off Facebook marketplace fixing it up and reselling.

When i lived with him he bought a gas golf cart that threw a rod. We completely rebuilt that engine and it was VERY easy. The engines are so simple, anyone can work on them just using YouTube videos. It was also very quiet. I like that the engine only runs while your foot is on the gas.

At some point I will buy one for the same purpose as you and will go gas.

I have both and I like how quiet my electric is. Depends on the situation but flat ground in a neighborhood I’d go electric although I have not heard a lot of the newer gas ones. My gas has a v-twin motor and idles like a car and can be loud. I take my electric around at night and hunting. If you get a electric look into lithium batteries. I’m getting an extreme team lithium for my cart. I plan to be able to go 70miles or more on a charge with it.
