Unless you are absolutely jacked, you absolutely could lose close to that.

If i was 175 with same muscle mass, i would be in a lifting competition show absolutely shredded.

If i hadn't lifted a weight in my life, i could be 175 and flabby and probably still should lose 15 lbs of flabby fat.

"OK?" So you think life today is completely on pace with how people ate and moved around in the 19th century? You think those numbers are all "like for like"? Because if you say yes, then I'm done with the conversation.

Maybe I'm slow, but I'm not catching what this has to do with anything..? How does us having a less healthy lifestyle now mean the BMI parameters need to change? We move the goalposts as the world becomes less healthy? That sounds terrible.

According to that calculator, I am dangerously close to being overweight.

I am 6'5, 195lbs

I'm 6'1, 194, and i'm "overweight".

I've never been close to being accused of being overweight/fat in my entire life.

140 is severe malnutrition. More "science" from the CDC.

Diet is how you lose weight, not exercise.

The next time the OT complains about fat acceptance because some obese model is on a magazine cover, people can point to threads like this. This level of fat acceptance, all though not extreme like morbidly obese model, is really prevalent and contributes greatly to society getting fatter and fatter.

These people also have to remember that the US is THE fattest (non-tiny country) in the world. If you break it down by state, places like Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. are fat as frick compared to places like Colorado. So BMI is good enough for plenty of other places in the country and the world, but of course it doesn’t work for a large chunk of fatties in the US.

I know, I know. But if I didn’t exercise I would be 240+. Thing is I have adjusted my diet recently so we shall see. Oh and laying off the booze.

BMI shows as a range that's ~30lbs wide. Where did you land specifically on 179? You should have a nice window of weight you can be.

Mine says 89lbs-119lbs. I'm ideal for my personal happiness at around 92-94. Currently up to 108, so got a ways to go now. But working on it.

No it doesnt

identify this group it doesnt work for then. please tell me who these genetic outliers are please.

Even if you accounted for everyone that lifts weights.....it still works for 91% of the population. Laughable you think everyone that lifts is serious enough to have maxed FFMI and is skewing results.

you dont exercise as the main component of weight loss. Sure it can help, but diet is 95% of that.

According to the BMI calculator I believe 179 was the upper limit. Anyway you cut it I need to drop at least 20-25 pounds.

Rechecked and the range for. BMI for me was 133-179
