Nah, we had no idea what we were dealing with.
By April 1st we did.
Our biggest mistake was extending the Federal shut down "recommendations" past Easter.

Sure, but it didn’t justify an immediate panic & overreaction. The whole country suddenly started acting like the South on a snow day. Just shutting down because everyone else was shutting down. “They canceled that so we need to cancel this.” The social pressure to cancel everything became nuts.
Really was the most surreal week of my life. Grocery stores were getting overrun. Stock market was tanking. A week or so later the unemployment numbers started skyrocketing at historic levels. Never seen anything like it.

Shutting down was always the wrong decision. It was never a good idea.
It makes me angry that we still have limp writers today who still believe in the Corona hype.
At the time Corona looked like it had a 10% death rate based off of what was coming out of Italy. The only other countries that we knew had mass outbreaks were China and Iran and we knew that they couldnt be trusted to be forthcoming about what was going on. South Korea was dealing with it too but not as many cases and they had basically shut down their country. So we have South Korea and Italy who are generally two open nations that we enjoy good relations with that were melting down and China and Iran that were in total radio silence. The shutdown was the right call at the time but the extended lockdowns when we got a better idea of what the virus was capable of were criminal.

Are we still 2 weeks behind Italy?

Imagine what will happen when the dollar collapses.

Agreed. We didn’t know what was happening. The shut downs were appropriate for the first month or so. But now we know everything, we know how to protect at risk people without lockdowns, we know who is at risk, hell we have a vaccine that’s been effectively distributed to the at risk populace. It’s way past time to open back up

Us hockey fans were deprived of Larry Walker playing in front of the net. frick. That would’ve been awesome.

I remember sitting in Koch arena at Wichita State watching the girls basketball team at the school i teach at play in state when all hell started breaking lose. Our spring break started the next day and i immediately left and went purchase a gaming console because i saw what was coming. best purchase of my life tbh.

It got to the point where my William Hill app started offering action on Russian table tennis for desperate degenerates.
Then, Taiwan and Korea gave us baseball for us insomniacs.
