Draft his replacement. Re-signing Marcus Williams and Ram are the 2 out of the 3 that need to happen. They cannot and will not be able to sign Williams, Ram, and Lat. Lattimore should net at least a 1st and 3rd while saving 10 mil in cap.

Copy that

it's just that Lattimore is the best corner we've picked in the first round... well.. that I can remember who actually was a solid player.

Alex Molden was okay but Lattimore can play at high level but maybe just not as consistently as you want.

that's why I figure it'd be nerve racking to try and draft a replacement for him given our history but I'm a big Jeff Ireland believer.

I guess my next question would be what about Jack Rabbit on the other side? Where do we go on that side of the D?

The only way you trade Lattimore is if it’s in a deal for Watson or Wilson. Otherwise you extend him and create some room on the cap. You can never have enough corners in this league and it would be suicide to the defense to trade your only shutdown corner with nothing else on the roster b/c JackRabbit might be gone too.

Draft his replacement.

it's not that easy

it took a bunch of incredibly dumb decisions AND KC trading up ahead of us to get Mahomes ( ) for a guy like Lat to fall to us

i would imagine if we were dealing him like this it would have already happened. teams will likely lowball us b/c of our cap situation, too

Williams is the best most consistent player at his position, has worked on his play as well as his physique and shows is an asending player. Lattimore is wildly inconsistent and has come in out of shape. Again you cannot sign the trio of Lattimore, Williams, Ram. While I hate losing any one of them, I'm not signing Lattimore to top corner money. He hasn't consistently earned what he will command.

Saints will figure out a way to bring everyone but Brees, Hendrickson (will get us a 3rd rounder in 2022), and possibly Rankins.

All others they will be fine letting go like Murray, Hill, and Cook

We can't (even with Loomis's magic beans) keep everyone we want this year.

I don't see any changes to the o-line. Period. And yes it would be great for someone to take Peat.

Williams I think is a lock to try and keep. I only see one of the two starting CB's sticking due to cap. Would be happy with either TBH.

Hope we keep either Rankins or Brown as well but we have good young talent behind both.

As an aside I'm really high on Tony Jones next year. Very similar to PT in college and at the combine. Hope he brings it all together this year.

You think the #1 CB in the draft will fall to 28?

Rankins and brown have been gone.

I've gone on record saying i think jackrabbit can be a number 1 corner but i don't want to lose lattimore cause we would still need a corner.

Imo marcus williams isn't going anywhere.

That peat contract is ridiculous

Latt tends to disappear in some games. The other two don’t. That, to me, makes the. More valuable.

Nope. But compensation for Lattimore will allow us to package and go get......

I mean, the perfect move would be to offload Lattimore for (hypothetically) a 1st and 3rd, net 10 mil in cap space, and package some picks in the draft to move up and grab Horn. Profit.

Just take my word for it. They do not have enough restructures in the building to fit those 3 in the cap. Would be too much can kicking of contracts they do not want to extend futures on. If they have any players on Lattimore (I'm sure they will) It makes too much sense to move him for picks/big cap relief than to try and manipulate contracts they do not want to in order to make it work. There's other more pressing negotiations (Ram/Williams/QB) that need $$$$. I'm telling you, 10 mil in space plus at a min a 1st/3rd (could be better than that) would be the smart play here.

Impossible. The cap is about to explode. New TV revenue is going to have it go way up.

and then?

i'm talking long term. the new tv deals should kick in for 2022. the cap may go up 50-75% and these major deals will look pitiful

that Mahomes deal is going to be such a value for KC

in 2022 we should be clear of all of Bree's dead money so that's going to be its own little cap surprise also

Agreed

Considering Lattimore and ram are both under contract this year with 10mil cap hits, we can definitely sign them long term.

As much as I like Jack rabbit, he's near the tail end of his career (33 this season) while Lattimore is going into his prime (25). We'd be ill advised to not keep him if it's between the two.

The question is honestly between Williams and Hendrickson. Williams is the one you try hard to keep. Hendrickson had a breakout year, but the numbers tell us that paying him 15mkl+ to be our future anchor is seriously stupid

On older players you will screw yourself into dead money on, yes it is.
