Jesus didn't mention politics or government because it's not important. It's all dust in the wind in the end.
He actually did talk about earthly governments on more than one occasion.

But its very compatible with a society the grants you multiple freedoms.
The founding fathers knew that Democracy was on the very thinnest of ice without moral guidance and yes, almost all were devout Christians that prayed regularly.
ETA:Before you start,I know we're a Republic

No they can't.
Sure they could. There are many Bible passages about not turning away the poor and lesser of this world.

Was he giving his followers commandments on how they should be run?

I didn’t say that.
I said he mentioned the Roman government and earthly rulers and kingdoms often.

There appears to be a feeling on this board that conservatism and Christianity are the same thing.
It's not. Look at most of the republicans in congress.

Take a trek into the old books of the Bible. God has dealt with many a ruler.
Being a believer has more to do with salvation of mankind(I am old school) and little to do with politics.

On something like immigration, it might be easier for a person on the Left to make a scriptural argument on why they are right
Only on a superficial, uneducated level.
Paul urged early churches to remove people from the churches who were immoral in ways even the gentiles weren't.
If immigrants have no respect for the law of the land, and the law is not immoral...
quote:
Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God. 2 So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment 3 (for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation 4 because it is God’s servant for your well-being. But be afraid if you do wrong because government does not bear the sword for nothing. It is God’s servant to administer punishment on the person who does wrong. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities but also because of your conscience. 6 For this reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants devoted to governing. 7 Pay everyone what is owed: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
There's some discernment to be taken with Paul's advice here, but it's not that - hey, Mexicans are suffering, therefore it's okay that they simply break all the laws in the US. That's NOT the answer, but it is what liberals are EXACTLY arguing.

I didn’t say that
That was the context I was speaking of.
He didn't because that shouldn't be the focus of their lives.
Most Christians in America are more concerned with various political issues than they are with saving souls. The same goes for working 40hrs and paying for homes, cars, vacations, etc. The same goes for hobbies.
That was my point.

Read your Bible more.
Post less.
Paul addressed this. Unless you think that Paul's letters are not an important part of the New Testament.

Not that I really care either way, but there is biblical support for a lot of dumb shite out there.

I, on the other hand could site numerous reasons why unchecked immigration is problematic to me personally or to my country, but I don’t think I could use scripture to make my case?
Do you mean illegal immigration? Because I don't see how the Bible calls for us to allow that at all.

God’s law supersedes man’s law. A case could be made by those on the Left that manmade borders are just that, manmade.
I’m playing Devil’s advocate here.

Democrats may have begun taking this role on through government intervention because Christians dropped the ball?
Yeh, they care so much about human life that they promote killing babies in the womb. Get out of here with that bullshite.
typically, widowed, orphans, poor, and oppressed are all victims of a tragedy and vulnerable. Dims prey on them to stay in power.
