Direct TV just went up on me. For those of you that switched to Dish, how is it?

It’s okay. I was about to go to YouTube TV a year or so ago and they chose that time to go to over $70 a month. When Dish essentially matched that I stayed with them.

I’ve had Dish for several years. I dig it.

The freedom of no equipment and being able to play your content anywhere is the best reason for YTTV. One simple Roku stick and you are done.

We keep DISH since the price is close to YTTV, and the equipment is top notch for the cable providers.
Nice not having the delay on sporting events and the sling integration is convenient.

I had Dish for 20 years, never had Direct TV. We moved 6 months ago to a place with Fiber internet, so I got rid of Dish and went with Hulu.
I like it, but I do miss Dish. They had a great, easy to use interface.
I would have stayed with them, but I hate that you have to have boxes for the TV's. My new house has TV's in 9 rooms, and I think they charge like $6/month per box.
If they would just set a price and let you use it on devices like streaming, I would go back to them.

I have Directv and use a Roku on all but two of my TV's. I have probably 50 TV channels I can watch on the Roku boxes by adding the channel app and using my Directv login.

Large family or you have a lot of money. What is it?

I have had Dish since 2005. I really like the product. They do at times have channels go black due to them battling with prices but other than that, the product is good
Now the service is a total different story. Their customer service is horrendous. If you need to call them and get something changed or taken care of, its going to be painful. Second only to ATT
I have all the pay channels except HBO because Dish does not carry HBO anymore and my bill is around $200 for 3 boxes. Its expensive.

I can access my Hopper box and get every channel through a Fire TV device.
The only limit is that you are limited to one Fire TV device watching at a time.

Sadly no, just the wife and I. 5 bedrooms 2 living rooms, theater room and covered porch. I have 4 other locations that have wiring for TV, but not using it.
This is my planned retirement home.

Yeah, I get that, but I do see a couple of drawbacks to it. One is, it's using your internet connection instead of your satellite, which one of my reasons of being nervous about going to streaming is if my internet goes down or is somewhat unreliable. It hasn't been, but I do wonder.
Second, wouldn't you have to log into the app on each device, so if you watched, I don't know 20 channels, you probably are logging into 5-10 per device as you want to watch? Would probably be impossible for my wife to do, and frustrate her.

He’s teasing you. Nobody has 9 television sets.

Technically I do have 9, but I only have 8 installed. The ninth was one I moved with me, but hasn't left the garage. I can't find the remote. It's an older TCL that I was going to put in my office.
I had one other one that I moved, it went in our bedroom, the other 7 I bought from Best Buy. My nephew worked there and we got a discount.

So I’m looking at the Dish channel packages right now. The $80 per month package would fit what we would need. What else will I have to pay for on top of this? A box for each TV? How much? TIA
