Its the water bill I worry about.. Ran faucets for days and I have this POS water company... Pay about $70 a month now as it is.
My entergy bill + gas was 250ish back to back month. That was before the freeze.
I wouldn’t worry about water since they bill you on a running average.

Prior to this month’s $208 bill, my previous highest was $203 and last month’s bill was 194. I’m thrilled to be honest.

I am all electric.
Suck it.
Sorry about your tiny house.

Mine was 550 last month. It typically hovers around 175-225.

Electricity should be generated by turbines turned by steam heated by the controlled reaction of nuclear matter. And, with some compliment of wind and hydrology. The nuclear waste is not an insoluble problem. In turn, bury all electric transmission lines. If this were done and all people adhered to stringent safety protocols, we would have power and clean air. People are afraid of nuclear reactors, perhaps given some recent experiences, not unreasonably.

Funny thing about solar panels during the recent ice storm.
Mine were useless.

Ironic, for sure. That was one of the first questions I asked when we had them installed last year - and they explained the concept of the "grid" in better detail than I cared for. I always thought the panels on top of the roofs provided energy directly to the home. I had no idea it was just feeding the giant grid.

I guess the confusion I’ve had is that the house is still tied to the grid. So when the power outages happen due to weather, or when the rolling blackouts happen, my house is just as dark as the next guy’s. Kinda counterintuitive to me.

quote:well you don’t have to tie into that grid. But when you do tie into a grid owned by someone else they require you to operate by their rules. You could always get battery storage and get off the grid. But when a grid is shut down or turned off the people working on those lines to get them up and running don’t need you sending electricity through them until they are repaired.
