Definition

activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result

Results are measured by how well you achieve a specific purpose.

Your own words
quote:

Are they getting compensated for work done? I consider that to be included in the word "job"

You either didn't read or understand the initial bold quote which makes you either lazy or incompetent. I now understand why you think compensation is considered "work". Just showing up is considered a free ride by people who actually work. I think we can determine which one you are.

Are you retarded?

And I don't mean that theoretically. I mean that with the actual definition of the word retarded.

That's what the Soviet Union did. Had old ladies sweeping the streets vs having a machine do it. Giving everyone a job is not the answer, not making people comfortable in their poverty is a great idea - a rough quote from Benjamin Franklin. Slow down the handouts.

It is the job of the American people to support the government. Not the government to support the people

President Cleveland to the Texas farmers. I believed it when I first learned it and believe it even more after what we’re dealing with

Good in theory.

But, nowadays a huge chunk of military claim disability. So they'd get out and go onto military disability. We'd add millions of people to that program.

If anything, we probably need a smaller military.

Absolutely not.

But by the same token, they should kill the opportunities to have jobs, either...

FEDERAL Government. 49 of the 50 states are required by law to operate under a balanced budget and the one state that isn't (Vermont) does it anyway.

China model. It’s amazing driving though remote areas of China and seeing pristine medians along the highway. Then you see a group of workers manicuring the grass and shrubs with a pair a scissors.

Sounds horrible. It’s just a another move to UBI . UBI will suck for everyone living paycheck to paycheck. I see the future being like Gypsies. Live cheap in 5th wheels .

Sure. We can pay the day shift to dig the ditch then the night shift to fill it back up...for eternity. Then no job will ever be complete so everyone will have a job for ever.

There is no way this sort of thing will create a single problem.

This.... it’s amazing to me that politicians don’t support policies that promote their own citizens.

Solid post!

No white Southerner has any business fighting for a country that blames him for every problem. And I don't want my kids dying in Syria so the Bush family, the Clinton family and the rest of the political establishment can bilk the taxpayers of tens of billions of dollars.

What if ditches don’t need to be dug? How’s that productive? Would you advocate they dig said ditches with spoons rather than shovels, or shovels rather than backhoes, for the sake of employing them?

The military isn’t a jobs program. Personnel costs already dominate the DoD budget and there is no need to have more people in service than is necessary to fulfill the NDS requirements. Add to that the fact that forcing everyone into the military would pretty much ensure that military turnover would be extreme and you’ve pretty much provided the blueprint for an unaffordable, unskilled force.

Great idea.

It’s just a way to share the wealth . If your guaranteed a job then you don’t have to do anything on the job . You know if your fired then you’ll get another one .
