He is going to be a beast, but if Max were to end up transferring you can forget any chance of getting Jake. It is what it is for those of you who keep begging for Miles Brennan to be the starter once again.

It would probably be in our best long term interest that Brennan not regain the starting QB role, if we are going to land Jake.

Which is why Jake will take his time.

Max is going to go through spring, summer and then this year.

There's even a possibility if Brennan wins out that Nuss could also be #2 if he has a great practices as well.

You put your best healthy QB (talent + experience) out there no matter what. That being said, Max has a good shot and starting this season.

Right, so winning now isn’t important? Gtfo

I really don't know what to say without being terribly unkind.

Myles* Brennan can start this year as a senior and give the team to Max next year when his little brother is a freshman.

Max starting this season or not is inconsequential for his little brother.

When did TEs become more important than QBs?
Our best interest is to wait until Fall and play the best QB. If Brennan is the starter, hope he has a Burrow like year. He would then go to the draft and Johnson would have another opportunity to win the starting job.
What a great problem. We have so many potentially good QBs that some may be forced to enter the Portal.
With more on the way.
What a time to be an LSU fan.
Thanks Coach O.

You play the best player. End of discussion.

You do everything in your power to win now

Hey baw, I’d venture to say it isn’t other teams fans trolling you with auto downvotes with statements like these...play the best player, always...not who has locker room seniority, the right colored skin, the right kin folk or any other reason, other than to go 1-0 every week. GDT’s

If Brennan wins the job, Max isn't going anywhere, unless he's 3rd - and I don't see much chance of that.

When he signed with LSU, he was not slated to get much (or any) playing time until 2022.

He's still technically a freshman.

I hope whoever is the best QB gets the job, but it is in our best interest that Brennan is that guy because he keeps our QB continuity in line.

Having a freshman starter is horrible for QB recruiting and retention. Having an upperclassman as the starter gives everyone a path, rather than being behind someone in your class, or even younger.

you don't base who your starting QB will be based on whether the brother of one of the candidates is going to be upset about it. Who ever is the best player starts and if that is Brennan, then so be it, still doesn't mean that Johnson transfers anyway.

And say Max starts and plays out of his mind next season. How does that affect what happens with Finley, Nussmeier, Howard, Manning with Max still having 3 years of eligibility?

Maybe if we had started Brennan instead of Burrow we could have gotten a good TE a couple of years ago, lol.

Starting the right QB is way more important than recruiting a TE.
