right, so either the coaches did a shitty job or the stats are skewed because the teams they face pass all the fricking time, or a combo of the 2.

i'm going with scheme/coaching for that D

and yeah the big12 does pass a lot, but in the 100s? this was also before mizzou/KU were "top 10" teams

hell, baylor lit up UT that year

I agree with everything you've said, though, Derby Tigah.

how?

derby hates the big east becuase it doesn't have "talent" (aka, high recruiting classes based on rivals.com)

derby has not shown how talent is everything. that's essentially his only argument

i still don't see how OSU would stop WV with a 100% white. i already said if white gets hurt, they fall in a big way

in my opinion
1.ohio st.(if they get by s.cal may go undefeated)
2.southern cal(i think they will lose a few games)
3.florida(only stumbling block is the sec championship game against lsu)
4.oklahoma(seems theyll screw up somehow)
5.lsu(i think we beat auburn and georgia but lose to florida and alabama.i hope im wrong.but i think we might beat florida in atlanta and that might open the door for oklahoma)i dont think lsu will get a shot with 2 losses.)
6.missouri(should be a solid year)
7.georgia(i think they come to tiger stadium with a loss under there belt and then they lose to lsu and florida)
8.clemson(alabama dreaming about beating them.matt will get his 5th of crown)
9.texas
10.west virginia
thats my top 10.screw the media.

OSU would do it. White and Devine would be formiable opponents to match up with that D, but after losing Slaton and losing Schmitt hurts, and also Darius Reynaud.

Did WVU reload that well to replace all them to say they are going to beat OSU who still has good LB's and still has a good secondary?

I doubt it.

they have not shown in the past 2 years that they could do it. i don't see what has changed

hell even in 2005, PSU (using the spread option with a fast QB) beat OSU. OSU was a lot more talented in 2005

I hear what you're saying SFP, I really do. I just don't think you've can lose Slaton/Reynaud/Schmitt which made up the core of your offense and go onto beat an OSU team that didn't lose that much.

Not only that, but Rich Rod is no longer there. People can talk all that they want about him, but the guy was a hell of a coach for them. And I'm saying this is a "fan" of WVU sort of. I started watching them when Chris Henry went out there and I liked the style of ball that they played. I think Pat White is underappreciated in college and he's fun to watch. But I also think he owes some success to Slaton and Slaton to him likewise.

I just don't see how OSU loses to a depleated WVU this year.

in order of magnitude of loss: reynaud, schmitt, then slaton (due to devine)

i am curious to see what they do without reynaud's speedy threat, but it's still about the QB-HB and the zone-read for the most part

i fully admit that WV is likely going in the shitter after this year, but they're still a well-oiled machine

lemme ask you this: who has this core beaten to impress you?

i understand why people are leery of WV, but i don't see what OSU has done to be impressive

True, I'm not pro-OSU by any means and they haven't really put any skins on the wall lately to quote The Cajun Cannon.

Hell, it may very well be a good match up. I just know that Slaton was fricking awesome at the college level, and although Devine should fill in nicely those are some pretty big shoes to fill. But if Devine/White are on the same page they may have something. I think a lot is going to fall upon the head coach and his gameplan and play calling abilities.

And when I say Devine/White being on the same page, it's exactly what you said with the zone read with QB/HB. It will be interesting to watch.

Winning the Big10 outright the past two seasons? And I'm kind sure the Big10 > Big East....

if they hadn't played last year, i could see somebody arguing OU

i can see the UF argument (absolute shootout there). i can see the Mizzou argument for the same reasons

i can see the UGA argument (although (a) i don't think UGA is that good and (b) 2005 Sugar Bowl still rings)

i can definitely see USC (esp if sanchez or mustain is the man) with their defensive speed (although 2005 title game still rings in my head, however this D is going to be a LOT more talented. that 2005 USC D wasn't that good)

Clemson could, theoretically, beat WV at its own game. but who trusts clemson?
