Chris Jones: Penalties 1,000 percent affected the game

Defensive lineman Chris Jones noticed the discrepancy. He said the Chiefs received nine penalties, and the Bucs only had two. While he wasn’t exactly right, he was close on the first-half numbers. Kansas City had eight penalties for 85 yards in the game’s opening 30 minutes. Tampa Bay had only one for five yards.
“I mean, penalties cost the game either way,” Jones said. “Only the referees can call the penalties. So the penalties affect the game 1,000 percent. What can I say? We had a lot of penalties called on us today.”
Jones also felt like the officials were calling the game tighter than they typically would in a championship setting.
“I was very surprised. This is the Super Bowl. Usually you let the guys play, especially in the biggest game of the year,” Jones said. “Penalties can change the game.”

Bigger discrepancy was number of GOATs each team had
Tampa Bay: 1 GOAT
Kansas City: 0 GOATs
Tampa Bay: 1 GOAT
Kansas City: 0 GOATs

If you want to debate the merits of officiating, this is always a terrible argument.
You should debate whether or not individual calls are correct or not.
Pointing to the # of infractions as some sort of metric of fairness is absurd because it assumes both teams are committing the same number of infractions which obviously isn't always the case.

There were some iffy calls, but Tampa flat-out dominated them. Their D affected the game more than anything. Their coverage in the secondary was an A+ considering KC's talent.

So don’t commit penalties. At least 80 percent were clear as day.

Maybe try guarding the receivers instead of holding them?

Exactly. If you don't like the calls going against you, maybe stop holding on defense.

Sexist. Can’t believe he is criticize the referees when a woman was on staff. This was the best called football game in history and it wasn’t a coincidence.

It wasn't ponytail's fault that TM7 couldn't defend anybody.

One of the first things Romo said when they came on the broadcast tonight was that the Chiefs hold in the secondary more than any team in the league.
The refs called holding tonight.
The refs called holding tonight.

Yes, yes they did.
So perhaps the Chiefs should have stopped committing said violations, and then the penalties would not have been called. Simple enough.
FWIW, female referees 1,000 percent affected the game. Because she waved off a clear interception.

Super Bowl season is great at separating the casual low iq football fans from the legitimate ones who have real knowledge of the game.

You seem to be having a bad night.
What did Tom Brady do to you?
Posted on 2/7/21 at 10:49 pm to RLDSC FAN
They absolutely did
Chiefs didn’t do themselves any favors obviously, but that first half was abysmal officiating

the first half sure
but chiefs were unable to do anything the second half
refs won’t get a lot of the blame because KC flat out laid the biggest egg on the national stage
