Outlook on mask wearing mandates in Catholic vs. non-Catholic private schools

From what I understand, Catholic schools in Baton Rouge have an indefinite policy of mask-wearing for employees and students. Can anyone here offer more context as to who ultimately makes these policy decisions and along which timeline? Principals? Priests? Advisory boards? The Bishop? Who do they consider to be unquestionable medical authorities? The CDC? Fauci? Gov. Edwards? How is it that non-Catholic churches and non-Catholic private schools can determine for themselves that masks are not mandatory, yet the Catholic churches and schools must have uniform policies? Is it all about the threat of lawsuits? I have friends with children, and they run the spectrum of believing COVID will harm or kill all children (and their families) who contract it, to those who read widely into studies worldwide who believe the masking in schools is actually unnecessary and harmful. It would seem the schools that want to retain or regain their students in the fall, would be wise to acknowledge that their students’ parents have diverse understandings of the danger of COVID, and consider the possibilities of allowing children to enroll for self-contained classrooms in which children are not required to mask.

Just trying to make the mormons feel better, we all wear special diapers now, just on our face.

This really depends on where you are at, I think. I'm a parishioner of a Catholic church in Alexandria, VA who is very conservative and only requires masks at the Noon service on Sunday. They've actually had a lot of complaints from people who live nearby because the parish doesn't require its parishioners or its students to mask up.

That's what the Catholic and private schools here in Louisville are following.

Anytime a school, public or private, enacts a policy it almost always involves sheltering from liability. This has been going on LONG before COVID.

Long story short--it's because a small minority of parents will flip if you change anything.
I'm on an advisory board elsewhere for a large Catholic school in Louisiana and we are gradually loosening restrictions to try and make things normal for August 2021. I dont know where we will be stopped by the Diocese.
Anyway, for some people, we're not moving fast enough, for others we're moving too quickly.
One thing I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt is that based upon data and anecdotal experiences within our school system, children are NOT passing to each other or the adults. The cases we have are from outside, and when teachers are positive, they did NOT get it at school.

How will the priests molest boys with masks on?

it's my understanding that the parish priest are following the directive of the bishop. the bishop is doing what ever JBE ask.

My reading of it here in South La is that the diocese places a high value of staying in the good graces of the government. One might even think the Bishops are buddy buddy with JBE and are happy to provide cover for his decisions. That's how it seemed to me at the beginning of this, anyway.
Perhaps that is uncharitable, but the last year has really challenged my faith in the Church, which is a terrible thing for a Catholic to say.

Thank you very much for your insight.

I firmly believe that in children masks are useless. I really think they're fairly useless overall, unless youre symptomatic.
There is also excellent data that household spread is very, very, very rare (like 1%) if the positive index case is asymptomatic. Now, this is pre- the PCR cycling change and reporting change for asymptomatic patients, so that may have some bearing, but nonetheless, asymptomatic spread is basically non-existent, so asymptomatic masking is a sham perpetuated by the powers that be. They can say what they want, but it is.
Their argument will be "well, everyone needs a mask, because people aren't truthful about their symptoms." Maybe, but this is still not useful for the population as a whole. I digress

Then why haven't we had this country's entire population in masks permanently prior to Covid?

Went to Lowes yesterday and passed by St. George on the way back. Kids were at recess and most of them weren't wearing masks.

If you don’t listen to Dr. Taylor Marshall already, please consider checking out his podcasts. He will give you the inside knowledge on Church corruption.

No problem. It's an incredibly charged conversation.
People want to ignore the social impacts of maskings/distancing/etc on children. It's a real problem. Pediatricians are seeing more and more kids on anxiolytics and antidepressants. Teenage suicides are being ignored. PK3-PK4 kids are having language development delays.
If you truly believe "there's no downside to wearing a mask, just put it on" you have your head buried in the sand.

Maybe the most damning thing in all of this is the absolute lack of interest shown (by everyone who can do something about it) in answering the questions: what are the downsides of mask wearing and social distancing? What are the effects on the millions of kids who couldn't go to school anymore? Etc etc
These are the same people who will absolutely neuter the second amendment and claim they are doing it for the children.
