Hopefully that means no drama within our existing QB room. I wouldn't have minded this kid as a PWO, but didn't want to use a scholarship on him.

I would like to sign him because I like his film and I like his family story. That said, LSU is for savages. Austin is definitely more of a cultural fit for a kid from Brentwood. There is no doubt about that.

It's not like this kid was ever needed here, he would have been a good backup due to an injury, but no way would he start over any of the QB's on the roster right now.

Maybe the whole reason he is going elsewhere is because he isn't willing to be a backup at LSU.

The only problem we have right now is our roster is full of starting QB's, there isn't a true backup QB on the roster.

Finley would start at a lot of other Division I NCAA football programs, not sure he would start for another SEC school right now though.

Should LSU recruit the Pawhuska QB who is the Pioneer Woman's son?
One signed with North Texas and the other will be a jr in high school
Can't hurt to have that money flow into the program

I don't think we should recruit one, just get a preferred walk on or some dude in the transfer portal who is content being a backup, knowing he won't ever be a full time starter here.

Apparently, Scarborough spilled the beans before the kid announced.

Sometimes backups go on to be starters in the NFL. Sometimes the backups are better than the guys starting ahead of them at the college level.

That being said the chances some 3 star kid is going to come in here and outplay 4 four star recruits is almost 0.00%, so the kid would need to accept being a backup here.

With what we have a quarterback, this kid would have never seen the field!

Honestly if we’re just filling spots I’d prefer us support our own

ETA: of course the board is trashing an LSU kid whose family is tied into and supports the school it’s just a PWO

Scarborough is close to the family. I am sure he got permission.

Texas offered him a gray shirt, LSU only offered a PWO. He took the better offer.

The deck wasn’t exactly stacked in his favor here. Can’t blame him at all for taking a better opportunity for a scholarship and playing time. He isn’t guaranteed anything at UT either, but he has a better shot there then here with Nuss and Howard coming in back to back and 2 freshmen already having experience.

He referred to Secretary Ponamsky as "Coach" Ponamsky. I didn't know Derek/Ree is a Coach now.

His family is absolutely loaded. I can’t imagine him being too worried about a scholarship. His father has an interesting and inspiring story.
