Wait, you can’t nominate a recording of a stage show for a film award. I’m calling shanigans!

Award shows this year are going to make the PGA Tour look like the goddamn Super Bowl.

No one has watched any of that shite.

Gee, I wonder who will win this category.
Not that he doesn't deserve it, though.

2020 is obviously an exception year, but that big controversy 2 years ago about whether purely streaming movies could be nominated for Oscars pissed me off.

The Emmys have their own categories for TV movies. And if streaming is anything, it’s a TV medium. Having a minimum of 4 weeks in theaters is not that unreasonable a standard to be eligible for an Oscar.

In terms of just the movies, very very very weak field.

We've ascended to a whole new level of movies the general public has not seen or even heard of.

I haven't seen any of these movies though I do plan to watch Mank. The only nominated tv show I've seen is Better Call Saul but I will watch The Queen's Gambit eventually.

I have heard that Nomadland is pretty darn good.

I honestly have not heard of any of the other best picture movies. I am not saying that to be too cool for school... I have not heard anything about any of them.

Would be hilarious if Brendan Gleason won for his cartoonish portrayal of Trump, but Dan Levy walks with that award, easily.

Glad to see Mank and Promising Young Woman get all of those nods.

Hoping Gillian Anderson wins for Thatcher, and Elle Fanning is hilarious and awesome to watch in The Great.

Hamilton being nominated for being a recording of a stage performance shown on a streaming service is a joke.

It'd be pretty damn easy to get through 80% of it watching with the subscriptions most of us already have.

Were they supposed to nominate Bad Boys 3 for everything?

I will admit I don't know if there is actually a rule that disqualifies it, but yeah, it's dumb. Imdb did actually break its own rules to include it in the top 250 list.

And actually, it does break a rule. As a filming of a live event, this should technically qualify as a documentary.

The Crown is gonna clean up in every category they’re nominated in. Everyone else nominated in those categories shouldn’t even bother showing up.
