Going through some things my dad left me. He was a ticket saving geek as am I. I didn’t know these events took place. Anyone here in attendance?

Somehow you pulled off starting another thread with a blank title. Not even a period in the title. I've never seen that before.

Possibly were preseason games?

Those are actually really cool. I believe the NFL played games in NOLA to test out the market.

Yes I would think that’s the deal.

Interesting that the AFL played there, too.

if we didn't already have a team we would never get one now

I remember going to the Oilers vs Patriot game in 1962. Saw Billy Cannon play for the Oilers.

Very cool, that must’ve been the hook to have the game in S La. What was attendance like ?

If I remember correctly the stadium (City Park stadium) was about 1/3 full. We had lower level seats on the Oilers side and Cannon came over to the fence to greet his family.

The AFL played their All-Star game here in the 60’s. (Pre-Saints)
Black players got angry because of segregated hotels and the league moved it elsewhere eventually.

Pro games used to be 2 1/2 hours. Who knew?

I remember going to a game in Tulane Stadium before the Saints. I don't recall who was playing but it wasn't either of those games. I want to say Rams and Cardinals but that's just a guess. They were testing the market to see if there would be support for an NFL team in New Orleans.

Went to game in Tulane stadium in August of 66 to test NFL market potential when I was 12. St. Louis Cardinals with Jim Hart at QB v Baltimore Colts with Johnny Unitas at QB. Sold out stadium. Saints born later that year and began fall of 67.

Are you interested in selling those tickets? Email me at trank20@msn.com

Not selling. I can’t imagine they’re worth much and it makes me feel good to go through all these sport event tickets he attended. Orange Bowls, Baton Rouge Open Golf tournament and BRCC. Sugar Bowls, Super Bowls. Yankees and Colt45 games....... Many of these we attended together.

Longtime KC Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt very nearly had a New Orleans connection. The Chiefs started as the Dallas Stars and when they moved after the 1962 season, Hunt was interested in New Orleans and Tulane Stadium. I don't know how accurate this is but I've read where Tulane shot down the idea because at that time, they didn't want to share the stadium with a pro football team.
Just think...had that come to pass, New Orleans would be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
