Preferred Ammo for CVA Scout 35 Whelen

Bought a Scout V2 35 whelen and just curious what ammo shoots best out these guns. I know you can’t find ammo but just want to know what to keep an eye out for since don’t need ammo with season done. 180 Barnes, 200 Barnes, 200 Accubond?

225 Accubonds shoot great for me

200 superformance work well in mine. Thinking of switching to Barnes though once shite cools down.

200gr Fed Fusions grouped best for me. 180gr Barnes were all over the place.

I have a box of the superformance on the way. Why are you wanting to switch if you don’t mind me asking?

The heavier the better. I’ve heard of sub 200 grain 35 Whelen bullets have a tendency to tumble.

Eh no viable reason, honestly. More of a personal preference. When I first bought my 35, I was told by multiple people that the Superformance rounds were the ONLY round that shot well out of the cva, but my buddy shoots Barnes in his and they shoot just as well.
I’ll finish out the box I have of the superformance and my mind may change in a few years when it’s wiped out. They’re great rounds, but again, it would be personal preference to switch to Barnes.

I started with 200 superformance and switched to 180 Barnes. Both have killed deer for me but I found the Barnes to group better out of my gun.
On a side note make sure to get good scope rings and mark your scope position somehow you can easily see movement. I have personally seen 3 CVAs have issues with scope movement. DNZ mounts fixed the issue for me.

They don't seem to care too much. I've shot 4 or 5 of them with a bunch of different ammo and it all shot about the same, all plenty good enough. Never tried anything super light. They're sjooters

Same for me, had to remount scope, changed to DNZ one piece, torqued and thread locked everything fixed the issue.
