*updated on page 2

Yeah yeah, dear FB...

I was looking for a unique gift for a hunter. I thought I found a nice art piece.

"artist Stephen Herrero" out of a US studio
"Hand cast with a hand-applied finish"

Then I clicked on 'product specifications' and see this

So I give them a call. Maybe it is cast in China and handpainted by the artist/studio here in the states.

No, everything done in China.

What the frick is wrong with people and corporations? Almost any other country of origin and I'd be ok with it. It doesn't have to be made in USA, just not a shitty communist country with slave labor and internment camps.

Anyway, open to similar gift ideas if anyone has some. Retired doctor who loves big game hunting out west.

I worked with a guy that had to have new paintings every season in his house. He started using this place in China that basically ripped off artists around the world. He said the paintings were very high quality but he stopped buying them because he couldn't get crap for them when he tried to sell them when with other paintings he would often profit off of them.

Yeah I agree. It's no longer a fine art piece. Just another item pumped off a Chinese assembly line which means it holds little value.

Get him a nice handmade knife, whether for cooking like this one or one for hunting.

I'm thinking about springing for an adult-sized electric tricycle to cruise up the local rail-trail that I follow about 3 or 4 miles to get groceries and go to the bank and such. Well, guess what? About 90% of those bad boys are made in China. The ones made in the US are of better quality, but they are way out of my price range right now. I'm in a quandary over this shite.

I mean, if it will really make your life better then go for it.

I was in a similar situation when looking for a new video camera. A company called Z Cam is making amazing cameras for the price (talking 50% of others). I was willing to entertain the idea since it a small business, even if Chinese. Deal breaker was most of the support is done through a FB group. I'll just wait until I can get something else.

It is hard to avoid everything made in China since we sold out long ago.

That looks really nice. I don't see that exact one on the site but looking at the prices, I don't think I can afford those.

Pretty much. The more concerning thing is the number of Chinese sellers that have flooded Amazon in recent years. I forget what I was looking for on Amazon a few months ago, but almost all of the ones I found were being sold by companies with a Chinese name. Then half the reviews sounded fake as hell.

That's part of the reason I dropped Amazon Prime earlier this month after 8 years.

I buy all of my artwork, etc... on Etsy. I only buy from USA made companies.

Handcrafted/painted sculpture by an individual artist.

The company even has a place on their website to "register" each piece.

Yea, it's almost like Bezos is just shoving it in Trump's face, and the faces of all his supporters too. About 80% of all the consumer goods I've bought over the last 6 or 7 years have been on Amazon. It's just way too convenient to just order from them. And if you have Prime as I do, I always want to use it to make it worth the monthly fee. I bought it mainly for Amazon music. Hell, I can pull up damn near any album that was ever made and listen to it. Also, many old movies I love for free with Prime. It's addicting as hell. I don't even have or need a TV. There is no need. Just wish a crypto commie like Bezos didn't own it. Oh well, what the hell.

I use my mother-in-law's Prime account, but don't order much from Amazon. When I do, I only buy recognized brands or from reputable sellers.

This is your answer to why everything is made in China. Would it still be capitalism if companies were not allowed to buy cheaper? That allows them to increase their profits.

Canadian Turkey

Grease from America

Scotch from Japan
