What do you guys do to relieve some of the stress of being a dad, husband, provider? I have realized the older I get the less hobbies I have. Need to find something to get into.

You wanna know the difference between me and a couch?

A couch can support my family

my daughter loves those tiny cooking channels on YouTube. I decided to make her a tiny kitchen. I was surprised at how fun and stress relieving it was

I'm kind of in the same boat right now. I used to play golf a few times per month but my 2 buddies that I played with both moved out of state in the past few years. I like to fish but don't have a boat.

Mostly just home improvement projects and crap like that these days.

Regardless of your stressor, I think hobbies/activities that make you be in the moment do wonders for your mental health. It could be playing an instrument, woodworking, or field hunting - it doesn't matter.

Complete presence in the here and now, where you get to see the results of your competency, effort, and dedication is always going to be satisfying.

Shooting is my favorite thing to do. Ammo availability and cost has put a damper on that lately, but I just went up on the mountain and put 100 rounds through a couple of pistols and I feel a million times better.

Ive gotten into woodworking a little bit lately too. Built an end table for the living room that turned out way better than I expected. My father in law used to run an upholstery shop. So I'm gonna try some different chair styles soon.

My wife (no pics) keeps fish and a couple kinds of reptiles. That is her relaxer. I gotta say, I've never been a big reptile fan, but her python and a few of her lizards are cool as shite.

I have a 6 year old and a 4 month old. Between family, work and things to do around house (yard work etc) I don’t have time for shite! I would like to get into wood working or play some golf. Maybe in 13 years when I’m 50 I’ll be able to do stuff

I like to shoot too but I've been avoiding it due to ammo availability. I have a good bit on hand but don't want to waste any or pay these insane prices for more.

Exercise

This is what works best for me to manage stress and anger. I had serious anger problems before I started exercising regularly and now I rarely (if ever) get truly pissed off.

Running - train for something and have goals. Start small (5K) and work up to a marathon over a years time.

Biking - see above

Golf - this seems to take more time and hard to really commit to with a family.

Join some sort of ‘club’. It’ll improve a skill and a good escape (sports/intramural, cooking, home improvement, etc)
