Brennan had good stats but his 3rd down conversion rate was terrible.

Third down conversion rate by starting QB:
Brennan - 3 games, 9 out of 39 at 23% conversion rate.
Finley - 5 games, 32 out of 82 at 39% conversion rate.
Johnson - 2 games, 13 out of 31 at 42% conversion rate.

Finley - 5 games, 32 out of 82 at 39% conversion rate.
Johnson - 2 games, 13 out of 31 at 42% conversion rate.

Can't pick up blitzes and slow with the ball.

3rd quickest in the SEC before the injury.

Play calling put him in a lot of 3rd and 10s.
Like it or not, they held the freshman QBs hands a bit and tried to manage the game from a down and distance standpoint. For MB, E just wanted to pass every GD play and pass deep for the most part.
Here's the thing I keep reminding myself: Peetz has been around a lot of good QBs, I think he will pick the guy that gives us the best opportunity to win.

I think early season Linehan had a lot to do with that

Check out how long those third downs were. We didn't do shite running the ball in those three games on first and second down.

He produced more yards and threw for more TDs than our other QBs period, end of story.

It's hard to draw conclusions from 2-3 games from a stats standpoint, especially where variables could be wildly different.
What if Brennan was pressured on 60% of his 3rd down pass attempts and Johnson only 30%, stuff like that can wildly affect thins, beyond just the distance itself.

I forget, did we not have a short passing game when Brennan was under center?

Brennan - 3 games, 9 out of 39 at 23% conversion rate.
Finley - 5 games, 32 out of 82 at 39% conversion rate.
Johnson - 2 games, 13 out of 31 at 42% conversion rate. (Didn't have Gilbert or Marshall)
I don't understand the love affair with MB...I'm happy he stuck it out, but Max looked a hell of a lot better in the small sample sizes. But the ones anointing MB remind me of the posters that were pissed about an OSU Qb transfer in 18...bc LSU already had a full room of QBs that chose LSU first.

WE were terrible on third down because of that dick Lenehan you loser

Counting stats mean shite lol, any D1 Qb with any kind of ability can put up good counting stats in an offense with LSU weapons and the volume at which he was dropping back to throw the ball. It’s 2021 there’s better ways to evaluate football and somebody’s efficiency as a player than just looking at yards and TD-INT ratio lol

These people don’t even factor in that we ran the ball and didn’t get a lot of those 3rd downs. It wasn’t Brennan throwing it on 3rd every time.

Wrong, and if that were true then why didn’t the other QBs do it? You couldn’t evaluate tee-ball lil boy.

Not much of one they were running into the line for a few yards. I remember looking at the game charts when this issue came up after the Mizzou game. Miles had some blame but the third downs he had were almost all 5 yards or more.

This is recency bias. The D lost us games early on and with the play calling and OL issues, Brennan was the only one keeping us in those games.
Max played great but so did Myles outside of the first half of the MSU game.

I was super jacked about getting Burrow but I still think that Brennan brings more to the table as a 5th year guy than Max.
If Peetz feels otherwise then so be it. as other posters have mentioned, if Myles can't practice in the spring then he probably loses his job to Max.

I get it. It's loyalty. MB is a great Tiger.
With that said being a great Tiger does not mean you have a right to start at the QB position.
IMO Max looked better in those two games because he was better. He protected the ball minus one int., has the best pocket presence and leverages the OL which makes them look good, uses his feet well, is the fastest QB, just as accurate as the other QBs, appears to read the defenses better and has a strong enough arm with an adequately quick release.

Max will be our qb

The same way people are saying that Brennan shouldn't be handed the starting QB spot, neither should Max.
There should be a competition and may the best man win.

MB couldn't sustain drives and only success was on CHUNK plays to Marshall 25+ yards down the field. He had horrible pocket presence and I agree, the play calling was atrocious. No one paid attention to the bad offense play and play calling bc the Defense was worse.
Now was the Play calling better with Max bc SE got better or of Max skill set?

Disagree! Being a 4th year guy, second year in the system and 3rd year under the same OC..he looked completely lost at times against terrible teams. If he were a first or second year player, I don't think you would see near the support he's getting as the "anointed" starter.

If peetz thinks he's the best QB, ok. But I just disagree that "it's his job to lose"
