It's on right now on cable. It's one of those films that has always intrigued me. Although Jim Carrey has lost his mind I sill love this show.

Here are the questions:

Could something like this really be pulled off? Could so many people be convinced to participate in such a big lie for decades? You would have to be some cold people to be his "best friend" or "wife" and play the game.

What happened after he left? I'm sure he hooked up with the gorgeous girl but what next? Was he pissed off for the deception? How did he treat those closest to him in the show? I would think he would not trust another person ever.

Given the times we live in I'm convinced if there's enough celebrities and media involved they can convince anyone of anything.

The Truman Show apparently takes place in a universe in which the 13th Amendment has been repealed (or was never enacted to begin with?).

Some kid actor probably would have accidentally spilled the beans when Truman was a child.

I think this will be a good thread.

Why don't you all let me fix you some of this new Mococoa drink? All natural cocoa beans from the upper slopes of Mt Nicaragua. No artificial sweeteners.

Richard Ramirez had groupies.

Its not implausible that a woman would take a fake marriage with sex just for fame and cash.

That's the one true stinking point in the movie because unlike friends she can't take a day off and has sex with Truman apparently on camera. But there are probably tons of starlets with stars in their eyes that would take this role.

The Truman Show should have had a sequel called "The Truman Life". It's too late now, but start it off with them publicizing and building up Truman's reunion with Sylvia (Times Square would be a good place for it). As for everyone on the show, I think he writes them out of his life for good, with Marlon wanting to make amends to Truman but Truman refuses to do such.

When you really think about it, Marlon might have been an even bigger victim of the Truman Show than Truman himself. He was forced into that gig by his parents at like the age of 5, and he was aware of what was going on and probably had the biggest burden in the show. Truman's wife deserves no sympathy whatsoever since she got on the show in her late teens and signed on to sell her future kid into slavery. She's a complete sociopath, but I don't think Marlon was. I'd make him a central focus in the sequel where you go into his past drug use to numb him from the pain of deceiving Truman.

Then you'd still have Christof in the background trying to reboot the show with a new baby. Truman, Sylvia, and Marlon would try and successfully stop the reboot, where Truman and Marlon reconcile in the end.

Plus the actual interesting stuff would be Truman getting around in his day to day life not trying to go insane and what his relationship with Sylvia really means. I think it would have been a very interesting sequel.

What's implausible about the truman show is how popular and long running it was. We learned a couple years later that Truman's innocent non-drama is the exact opposite of what reality viewers want.

But also this movie is a fantasy satire with very little in the way of realistic.

Assuming it happened around 1998

- wins a massive lawsuit or settles in court against the production company and a bunch of other related parties. Largest sum every awarded in this countries history

- dates the girl from the movie for about a year, then realizes he has seen such little of the world he does not want to settle down right now

-shows up in a few Blink 182/Good Charlotte music videos in the early 2000s and presents an award at the Oscars. This is where the cocaine habit starts.

-dates a really weird but hot actress like Gweneth Paltrow or Winona Ryder. They get married but divorce 56 hours later post reception

-mid 2000s he’s blown copious amounts of his settlement money due to the drug habit and bad investments and is looking for a way to keep his lifestyle up. He turns to various Reality shows about his life. Housing crisis puts the final nail in his financial coffin. He sort of disappears into the ether

-flash forward to 2020 and he’s back on the horse after a few extremely successful Joe Rogan appearances and he’s back with a production deal with Netflix to do a movie about his life, a documentary about what happened after the Truman show, and once again because the focus of America’s attention.... for a month. He’s sober now but it’s taken it’s toll on his body. He starts a decently successful podcast to pay the bills

In August 2000, he is featured on a Season 3 episode of Celebrity Deathmatch. His opponent is Ed Pekurny.

If you think about it, these ad placements would've been going on for Truman's entire life. He probably wouldn't second guess these odd interjections in conversations. It would be normal to him.

They could do a "Truman Show" Reunion special to see How things really ended.

I envision the Corporation had set aside a Truman Account to pay him a lot of money on the day he gets out to mitigate lawsuits.

I have no doubt that Truman and Sylvia more to Fiji to live and she took him on a true world tour.

It would be interesting to see how Truman would react to see his "friends" and "family" again.

Lifelong mental issues, collected hundreds of millions in backpay from the production company, retreated into a life of reclusiveness.
