My Grandmother did a lot of this. My wife can do it, but doesn't.
An ex-coworker of mine told me he brought a bunch of fresh vegetables home and asked his wife if she could put some up. She said, "Put them up where?"

This lady is a dancer named Babs Lord (later married Robert Powell). She was a member of Pan's People, a dance troupe. She is in the blue miniskirt.

One of the all-time spectacular train wrecks of all time. The Federal Express is heading to Washington, D.C. in January, 1953. A huge GG-1 electric is leading the train. The train brakes have operated all day without issue.
As the train barrels towards the D.C. Union Station, the engineer makes his first brake application. Nothing. He tries again. Nothing. He applies the emergency brakes, which should have slammed the train to a stop. Nothing. He lays on the horn, which gave enough warning to clear the tracks. The train barrels into the station, crashes into the station itself, then settles in the basement as the floor collapses. No one was killed.
The top of the GG-1:

I caught the Southern Crescent* in Union Station in DC.
Damn, it coulda been me lying sideways there.
Kinda makes you think.
*Admittedly, it was in Dec. of 1974
Derailment @ Elma, VA in Dec. 1978, Amtrak took the route over in 1979:
