1958 Neward Drawbridge Train Wreck - train runs off open drawbridge taking two locomotives and two passenger cars with it - 48 people immediately drowned. The cause is a mystery. The train ran three signals and hit a derail device on the bridge designed to stop the train. However, the train was going twice the bridge speed and the momentum of the train carried part of it into the water. Autopsies found no disability to the train crew.

12/1/38 - Jordan School Bus Tragedy - train in a heavy snowstorm strikes a school bus (this resulted in new laws, including the ones that buses must stop at RR tracks). OUt of 39 students on board, 25 are killed. The driver was also killed.

Dallas City Hall Fountain Plaza in the early 80s. The city opened the ‘pool’ to the public, even setting up a lifeguard, due to a blistering heat wave.
