No release of extra vaccine

It doesn't exist LINK

Federal officials — who promised on Tuesday they were starting to release more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to states — don't actually have any surplus to give out, according to a new bombshell report from the Washington Post.
The government said it had been previously stockpiling more than 50% of vaccine inventory, saving up enough second doses of COVID-19 shots from Pfizer and Moderna to ensure that everyone who had gotten one shot would be able to get their second booster on time, no matter what. (Both the Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines are given in two doses, administered three or four weeks apart.)
But, in fact, the Trump administration was already "taking second doses directly off the manufacturing line," according to the Post's report.
That grab-and-go strategy — of shipping out vaccine doses just as quickly as they were being manufactured — began in December for Pfizer's vaccine, and the same has been true for Moderna's shots since last weekend, according to the Post.

Most states have given less than 50% of their doses
How bout using what you have before saying OMB?

So was the federal government supposed to stockpile doses that were not available or which were not manufactured yet? The article implies that fedgov did something wrong here, but I’m not seeing it. They cannot force the drug companies to produce more vaccines.

You know why. Don't worry, Biden is about to save us all.

My dad got it should there be enough to give him second dose

People act like they will die if they don’t get this vaccine yesterday.
It’s so crazy... people call me at work all the time “ I’m 75 years old and I’d like to get the Covid vaccine “
“We are not doing those here ma’am.”
“Well what am I supposed to do? Die? I NEED my vaccine”
Awkward silence......
At least once a day I field a call that goes similar to that

My parents did too. They were told there would be enough. I hope that's true.

Unless I'm mistaken, the first dose should provide some decent degree of protection.
Hopefully, your parents get second. But, it's not as if the first dose was useless.

All those doses NY threw away would be handy right now

Both my parents and in-laws got the first dose in GA last week. Received their card and setup their next appt a few weeks out. No issues so far.

Those are the people who might die not sure if you were being sarcastic.

Everyone who got their first dose should be able to get their second dose. It's just a further delay for anyone who hasn't received their first dose yet.

The black market has plenty of vaccine but the federal stockpile went poof.

It appears they just blatantly lied about it. They are the ones who said they were stockpiling 50% of the doses.

Nah. They got a better offer from a foreign country.

So, in essence this article is saying this administration did the right thing releasing all doses the whole time from the beginning and did that before the Biden plan to do so.
So they are going to get credit right? Right?

Which is immaterial since the Biden plan was to also release all doses and not retain a stockpile for 2nd doses.
So lie or not we're in the same boat either way under both administrations. In fact, the Biden plan to release all doses was applauded, so now that we know this administration was doing that all along I'm sure an award or daytime Emmy will be given.

Why are the states hording the vaccine that we were told would allow us to get back to normal?
