4 star and #27 ranked CB in nation per 247 (#42 composite CB).
Any interest from the home town team?

No, he looks like an idiot

I don't think he was recruited by lsu initially. Don't think he will be now.

He was a weird take back then for Alabama. LSU never showed any interest.
They’ve taken several recent Louisiana players with little to no LSU interest.

I'm pretty sure that G.O.A.T Nick Saban danced the cupid shuffle during his Eddie Smith home visit.

Someone mentioned on a premium board they sat next to his parents for the LSU/Bama game back in 2019 and his parents absolutely hate LSU with a passion
So yeah I doubt we'd show any interest, not that we did first time around much either.
He's played literally 20 defensive snaps the last 3 years at alabama, he's not SEC quality. Keep in mind that's with Bama blowing out just about every team they play, so he wasnt even really ever with the 2's in the last 3 years.

Apparently Smith was nothing but a package deal to land Devonta.

he got the bama bump to 4 star status
I'm not sure what bama saw in him

Neither he nor Marcus Banks (former LSU commit) have seen the field much in their secondary. Banks could have absolutely seen the field in 2020 for us.

Keeping roads open to Louisiana high school programs I assume.

I’m reading this morning, and I don’t know why but I spit up my breakfast to “No he looks like a idiot “ hit me right in the gut, that’s funny I don’t care who are!

I know his parents never hated LSU and would have loved to see him here. Who are you going to choose if Saban dances with you family in your living room and the home team didn't want you until after?
He definitely balled out at Salmen HS. Sometimes it doesn't work out for you where you choose to go and you move on. He was always a 4 year developmental player. Maybe the DB's coach at Bama can only "develop" 5 stars unlike Raymond.
I'd like to see him put on a little more weight to his frame. He has a slim build for a safety.

I love the internet.
This kid just isn't that good. He'll end up somewhere smaller and disappear until his cousin or some kid at his former high school is a great prospect and he pushes him to Bama.
The Saban long game.

Same reason they picked up Kyle Edwards out of destrehan and slade bolden out of Monroe.

Well since I grew up across the street from his dad and I know his mom, I figured I'd give my personal two cents. He has work to do in the weight room and may need to be in a place that doesn't require playing in the box slamming into thumping RB's.

Having a player from your school fail and transfer is not a way to ingratiate yourself with a high school coach.
I do think Saban forces the issue in Louisiana, when he doesn't take near the marginal players from elsewhere.
Alabama has taken four 3-stars from Louisiana since 2017.
Slade Bolden may turn into a superstar and I will eat crow if he does. But I never saw anything in him that looked like an elite player, and I haven't yet. I wouldn't any WR on our roster for him.
Take at look at the 2018 signing class for Alabama. It's not good at all. Their 2017 class was monstrous, but there are a lot of stinkers in 2018.
Of course, our class sucked that year as well.

I assumed they didn't like LSU after the kid's recruitment. I vaguely remember during his recruitment his dad was pushing to get him an LSU offer.

He was close to committing to Mississippi State right before Bama offered him late.

Slade Bolden, from WEST Monroe, has at least been on the field a good bit for the Tide. Even scored a TD in the natty the other night.
