Have you ever randomly lost all desire to drink?

Over the last 2 months I've gone from 3-5 drinks a night to 1 to 2 per week (socially) with no effort. Woke up feeling like hell a few mornings in a row and decided to stop. This has been the longest stretch in about 7 years. I'd struggled with quitting in the past but now suddenly have absolutely no desire or craving. Hopefully I can keep this up, I've lost 10 lbs and feel great. Sleeping a lot better as well.
There wasn't any sort of rock bottom or life altering even caused by alcohol that sparked this.

Realizing how good it feels waking up and not feeling like crap is a strong driver.

Wanting to quit after a night of drinking isn’t random

This because more and more of a driver the older you get. I’m almost 30 and the morning after hurts 10x as much as it did just 5 years ago.

its called a hangover. but even the worst ones only last a day and a half or so.

Depends how bad of a hangover I have from the day before. The desire usually subsides in a day or two.

I haven’t lost all desire. Used to be a beer guzzler the afternoons. Now I’d rather eat supper and wake up feeling great.
It helps me to maintain my ripped physique also.

I'm mid 30s and this started for me ab a year ago. Now when I drink with friends, it's almost like I'm forcing them down when it was just second nature for years earlier.

Never been big on weeknight drinking unless on vacation or in college. I do even less as the years go on.

No, not randomly. It took a lot of convincing by the State of Louisiana court system.

This happened to me a few months ago. I woke up one Saturday morning and it was gorgeous outside but I felt like shite. Had enough of it and just decided to drink less.
I still drink, but I’ve cut way back. I feel great.

I dated my GF for aboot 4-5 years, then got married, and still partied for 5 years. We drank substantial amounts during this 9 year stretch. We worked hard and bought a house. Then, she told me she is pregnant, so the desire to drink every night left. Knowing I was to be responsible for a small, human life meant the party was over. shite had gotten real.

Yeah, I don’t care much for it anymore. I used to drink every night. Helped me sleep.
Now, I’ll drink wine at dinner, a beer or two at a wedding reception, and an occasional mixed drink when out with other couples. That’s about it. Haven’t been tanked in at least 18 months.

Yes, but I’ve never felt the need to tell people about it and never made myself feel good over it. I just did it and went on with my life.

yeah but actually following through with it without effort (so far) is pretty damn weird for me.

I lose it every morning but get it back every afternoon.

Usually if I go 3-4 days in a row without drinking I don’t have any desire and typically will go a few weeks.
