“I think you have two different things going on tonight. You have the possibility of Alabama, with a dominating win being considered the greatest team in college football history,” Finebaum said. “More important than that, I think it’s absolutely going to happen with an Alabama win, you have the coronation of Nick Saban as the greatest coach of all time.”

LSU undoubtedly has the better resume. Which is the better team is up for debate. That said I hope OSU beats them.

No it isn't.

I'm not going to argue Nick Saban cementing his status at the top, but Finebaum can get on with this "greatest team" crap. I don't want to keep living in the past, but any unbiased fan would admit 2019 LSU was significantly better all-around. Clemson and Alabama last year were good enough to win national titles any other season. And LSU DOMINATED both.
Alabama this year has yet to beat a significant contender. College football has been weak at best this year. Give me 2019 LSU -7.5 against 2020 Alabama.

Nobody considers this Bama team in the same class as 19' Tigers. They're are very good but this entire season will be looked on as a complete abomination. Just the way it is.

Just give it up. They’re both great teams. End of discussion.

Don’t bring this to the SEC rant. The Bama fans will attempt to crucify you.

Finebaum is a piece of shite Alamaba homer. There is no viable argument to be made that Alabama should be regarded as the greatest team of all time because it became champion in a season shortened and totally gutted by a pandemic, a season in which all the teams were deprived of practice time, a season in which all the teams were dealing with massive distraction, a season in which several of Bama's opponents lost major contributors due to Covid, and a season in which Bama never had to face a hostile road crowd. It is fricking preposterous. Only delusional Bama fans will even advocate it. Bama 2020 can be considered the greatest pandemic football team of all time, little more.

They can hype it up all they want! The 2019 Tigers were better on both sides of the ball. They even use a lot the tigers playbook from last year also. The film doesn’t lie!

Yes it is. There is no "best team in history". There are only best teams in a given year.
Example: In 2011 LSU completed the best season in history. Had the Ok State kicker not missed that field goal, LSU would almost certainly have beaten Ok State for the national championship, AND that LSU team would be considered one of the top 5 of all time. The truth is that team was not even close to that. Bama beats us 21-0 and no one even considers that team any more.

In 2019, LSU beat the pre-season AP top 4 teams. No team in the poll era (since 1936) has ever done that.
LSU had the greatest season ever in 2019.
LSU had the greatest season ever in 2019.

End of season LSU would have steamrolled this Alabama team right now. There is no fricking way they would run I’ll pass on that defense at the end of the year. LSU was so far ahead of everybody else it wasn’t even a contest for Clemson. He can get the frick out of here with that bullshite.
And also, Alabama didn’t have to play with any crowd noise the entire fricking season. Zero. Zilch. None.

Alabama is the greatest team ever...... they managed to keep ALL (1st rounders and draft eligible) of their players in tact during all of this opt out crap. Not sure how they did it, but that was the toughest thing to do during this time!

Keeping players? That’s what you got? How about that shitty secondary they had that allowed teams to burn their asses ALL YEAR. Moses was not close to the level PQ played during that final march.
Line them up and Burrow and Co smokes that defense regardless of who they kept. Can’t be said about Jones.
They played half arse prepared teams during a season that didn’t count... can’t say about how good they could have been but unfortunately for them, it is what it is. The Bama team that beat Clemson with Tua and Jalen DESTROYS this one.
