I think some games are influenced by refs for sure to benefit the leagues. But probably only to the extent of keeping games competitive and prevent blow outs.

When there is a lot of money on the line it will be fixed!

Are 100% correct

Whether that particular day it is blatant game throwing or quiet playing with the line is the only question

Now THIS is some great stuff right here.

Do yourself a favor and go see the interviews where players talk about it. Why do you think players retire when they are at their peak? For health? Lmao. It's because they're tired of being used as pawns in game they'll never win.

Larry Johnson, Benny Cunningham, Vontaze Burfict, even Colts players vs Namath knew something wasn't right.

Bread and circuses.

The reason the rigged argument is stupid is because of the fact it's a multi billion dollar business. The only way you put that at risk is if people do not believe it's authentic

If you really do believe this, why would you be a fan?

After Saints/Rams, I am no longer a fan and don’t watch.

I don’t think every game is fixed and the entire season is mapped out ahead of time but when a team in a new major market gets in the SB via an obviously blown call, you have to be naive to think otherwise.

The exact opposite...thats the reason the outcomes are not left to chance.

If you don't think Vegas had a hand in the Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty that extended Notre Dame's drive allowing for a back door cover you are out of your mind.

Watch the Frontline Special I linked earlier in this thread and you might see things different.

And keep in mind the woman who did the exposes died less than a year after it aired in a one car accident.

A blown call followed by no repercussions against officials makes it feel “rigged”. The NOLA No Call will forever scar my memory and be a realization that the refs can totally blow a call and essentially control the outcome.

They've been doing it for decades.

That Steelers - Chargers game ending a few years back.
Game officially ended with a score of like 11-10.
Steelers essentially did a scoop and score on a wild last second score attempt by San Diego, which would have allowed Pittsburgh to cover the spread, but the play was negated for no real explanation.

2008 I believe. Yea 100% rigged. Palomalu picks up the int or fumble I forgot, and takes it to the house for a Td but it's negated. All because Steelers had a shite ton of money on them to cover the spread.

Anyone that thinks these games are legit is blind.

The actual win loss outcomes themselves are generally not even the most important ways to influence games.

Simply pushing a few things one way or the other over the course of the game is more than enough to have drastic influence on things that revolve around betting.

Whether or not it leads directly to a win or loss is ancillary to perfection rigging.

You have to be a damn fool to bet on games unless you are in the ref room.

Wonder why all those experts out there are not billionaire sports gamblers and all the money makers never talk.

There are guys that bet on this every year and consistently make money. They aren't rich. It's about beating the numbers.

Similar thing happened in 2005 when LSU played Florida.

Except I think he was legitimately down...where Palomar clearly scored.

Here is the link to the illegal forward pass and no score by Pittsburgh... Fast forward to the end.

I don't think games are scripted or outcomes are predetermined.

That said, I don't know how someone can argue that refs are not encouraged to get more aggressive with their decisions to influence the outcome of games though. I've seen way too many unexplainable phantom calls or no calls that keep games within certain spreads to think otherwise.

Sports betting is a 5+ billion dollar industry, you would be a fool to think some sort of interference isn't involved.

The NFL and Vegas sway things. They don't say I want team A to win the Superbowl. But you're an idiot to think that games aren't influenced to get a certain outcome.
