on a radio broadcast, you've missed a special part of LSU sports history.
Ferguson's baritone voice calling play by play. Hill, with color commentary ("The Tigers are wearing white jerseys, gold pants, and gold headgear").

1969...10 years old. Transistor radio, bean bag chair, Saturday nights.

I'll enjoy LSU on my 75 inch 4k TV. Thanks. Keep your transistor radio gramps.

Saturday night magic, it was. Long before cable TV or internet, that was the connection. There were no televised night games from Tiger Stadium in the 60s. First one of those I ever saw was the Notre Dame visit in '71. Anyway, those Ferguson-Hill calls sure beat the current version: "The Tigers have just entered the Capital One red zone." Sponsor promos in between plays and no sense of what's happening on the field while a play is unfolding.

John Ferguson and Hill were GOATs Voice of the Tigers. The 72 Ole Miss game is a legendary call.

J.C. Politz called the Halloween run by Billy Cannon. That was a great voice also.

In remember those nights like they happened yesterday. My Dad and I would sit in his company car and listen to the game on his top of the line Delco AM radio. Ferguson and company brought the game to life with their excitement. I would plot each drive in my season spiral notebook.

John Ferguson was the GOAT. I remember him calling the LSU-USC game in Tiger Stadium.
