I think part of the problem is it’s showing up everywhere now. You used to be able to escape from the divisiveness but now you’re getting lectures at football games. It’s total insanity.

Divide, no.
Violence from the left towards anyone who disagrees? Yes.
Tolerance left the party of tolerance before it ever got there

IT feels more divided online in news and social media. Seems just fine in day to day interactions with others (civil). Seems to me we are being manipulated in some way to believe we will be killed, harmed, or canceled by the other side, but in reality, most people are just trying to live life.

Yep and there’s no turning back. It will only seethe and simmer, then boil over. Sooner or later, it’ll start a fire.
One side has made it clear this country is evil, founded in evil, is guilty of everything from practicing slavery hundreds of years ago to Tyrone misplaced his car keys this morning, and Capitalism is the fundamental root of said evil. They want it all torn down and reversed.
The other side is finally realizing this is incompatible with American principles. You don’t practice democracy with Socialists, Communists, Anarchists and opportunistic grifters. You kill them.

60’s was more divided.
Yep. The 60's by a long shot. JFK, MLK, RFK assassinated, riots and protests almost daily over the war in Nam and the Civil Rights Movement.
College kids being shot, riots over integration of public schools, riots over blacks becoming registered voters, especially in rural areas of southern states where segregation was still in effect.
Draft age young men burning draft cards and getting beat up by cops and patriots who frowned on the "Tune in, drop out, love in types" that the counterculture was breeding at the time.
The 60's were a true fluster cluck.

I think it was more divided in the 60s and 70s during the time of integration and the Vietnam War protests. Those were some very unrestful and violent times, especially trying to integrate the schools.

I am 57 and no doubt we are the most divided in my lifetime.

Stone Cold vs The Rock for WWF Championship
Peak division.
Peak division.

quote:I would agree with this being the only angle if the elections weren't rigged as a motherfricker. The fact that it feels like the only way to make things right is ultimately going to lead to outright violence is what makes it feel so divided. The other side has taken off the gloves so to speak. We're past the point of a political debate at the Holiday dinner table.

Born in 52, so I have a legit post about how the 60's sucked way more than what's currently going on. I lived through it, saw it nightly on the news-----when reporters actually reported 'THE NEWS" and not made shite up to fit their stations agenda.

Yes, it is, and it's likely to get worse as taxpayers are saddled with more burden.

Other than yelling "fire" or "bomb", freedom of speech, assembly and from government period should be things we're all in agreement on...
The word "liberal" comes from liberty...
Sadly, the other side aren't liberals, they are authoritarians. The rank and file believe in the good idea fairy. Their masters believe in power.
