People like to relate it to gold, and I don't like that
Gold:
Is a physical commodity, it has wide range of uses from electronics to jewelry.
It has backing by all governments of the world.
Doesn't rely on a network of computational power for it to work

While gold does have industrial use , the vast majority of why it has been used as a store of wealth for 1000s of years is because of it's scarcity...and the energy that is required to supply more. Theres plenty of commodities much more useful than gold on a usefulness scale worth nothing comparably.
Gold has always been denominated in Fiat.

This is the link Rocket posted earlier in the thread. It's very informative. Anyone thinking about Bitcoin needs to read it.

Bitcoin is the vehicle through which above board investors can profit off black markets without getting their hands dirty.

imagine having to transport millions of dollars worth of gold bars

would cost thousands and require armed guards.

the fact that bitcoin is digital, not physical is a feature not a bug. it makes it more valuable

I am a Boomer, so to break the stereotype...I became concerned with the explosion of debt and not favoring gold took a chance...moved into Bitcoin 12/17, never looked back.
Coinbase was the only reserve I felt comfortable with as the same level as the FDIC/bank protection. I have multiple accounts there..in my opinion, it will do a 2X-3X from here.
Good luck...I am a hodl.

I believe that's only with cash that you hold on Coinbase. They are insured though if their system gets hacked, but if someone gets your password, and gets unauthorized access to your account through no fault of theirs, then you have an issue.

If you are holding, leave it in their "vault" which has a 48-hour delay for withdrawals. Hopefully, as they move to go public they get better customer service, including actual people you can talk to if needed.

They don't use BTC. Just the shitcoins like Doge, XRP, EOS, Tether, et al.
