My undergrad was in advertising....and i still dont really understand the point of these sponsorships.
Everyone knows who Honda is. Is anybody gonna buy a Pilot because they remember it comes from the NHL west division sponsor? lol

No, but apparently Honda does, at least enough to pay to have their name on it.

That was my first thought as well. Pretty ridiculous IMO
Just another way that this whole world is about the almighty $$$.. even if it makes no sense at all, if it brings in money, then go for it. Stupid move by the NHL

Advertising is usually a waste of money.

No, but the repetition could easily make me think of researching a Honda before I research a Toyota, defacto making it the car brand I compare the others to.

quote:This is pretty basic. Why do you think Coca-Cola advertises? Or McDonald's? It's not just for fun. Yeah everyone knows them. But by seeing an ad, it creates a craving, and if you consume sodas/fast food, and don't necessarily have a favorite then next time you're buying that's what you're getting.

No possible effects from not advertising while your competitor keeps their name out there?
If Coca-Cola just stopped putting out any sort of advertising, but Pepsi continued to do so, would that not have any effects on consumer perception of each brand?

You’re crazy if you think I didn’t smoke Winstons because they supported NASCAR back in the day.
