While I agree with the “Right Coach” angle, Texas is rich with recruits at the HS level.... but the Texas program has suffered in recruiting...... I mean they have a great city and great facilities and everything that say a TCU doesn’t have yet they still lose recruits to them..... it’s not so much a coaching thing it’s a TEXAS thing......

We have 25ish schollies a year...to say that Texas will never lose a recruit to TCU or Tech (or even that A&M will never lose a recruit to TCU or Tech) is unrealistic.

Out of the defensive players in Fisher's 2019-2021 classes:

14 are from Texas (7-2019, 2-2020, 5-2021)
4 are from Florida
3 are from Pennsylvania
2 are from Louisiana
2 are from New Jersey
2 are from Tennessee
1 from Alabama
1 from Arkansas
1 from California
1 from Illinois
1 from Maryland/DC
1 from Missouri
1 from New York
1 from Oklahoma
1 from Virginia

His personality didn't mesh with anyone because he's an arrogant prick - boosters don't like him, players (some) hate him, his AD doesn't like him. Bru McCoy - 5 star WR from SoCal - spurns USC to come to Texas and then portals back because Herman was such an arse to him. Entitled kid? Maybe so but I don't blame him for leaving. Herman is the ultimate fake tough guy. He often canceled meetings with his AD (and president) simply because he didn't feel like meeting.

I saw him at a couple UH booster events, small enough for everyone to fit in the same room at a restaurant. He just seemed kind of immature. Sounded fine when he was answering questions and speaking normally, but when tried to go into the sales pitch and project confidence, he just sounded like a nerdy, nervous douche. The first time I saw him as a brand new head coach before the season started - in a room full of people who were mostly much older and wealthier - he said something about being "winners" and how you can tell they're winners because all of his assistants had hot wives. It was just a little weird.

I just think he could have used a few more years on a smaller stage to get better at communicating w/ boosters and building relationships. The honeymoon for being a hot young up'n'comer will wear out fast when you're getting a prime salary with a lot more eyeballs on you.

OK.

Is LSU a top 10 program?

By virtue of 3 NCCG appearances since 2007 with two wins, uh, yea? plus five bowl wins this decade. 4 top ten finishes.

I don’t even like LSU, but going back to 2010, your program is a wet fart in comparison.

Hell. Mizzou has more top 20 finishes 2010-2020. More top 15 finishes. And more top five finishes.

But yes. Texas. Top 10 program.

But you are losing TOP guys to a lesser program(in your eyes). Ok with ALL that Texas has to offer you are saying that just having the right coach will fix everything?????? And who is THAT coach??????

No idea of knowing that.

I'd have to think about what TOP guys have gone to TCU, Tech, or Baylor recently.

If you start the history of college football at 2010 (or 2007, whichever), yeah, you're right.

Well shite, if that’s the retard game you wanna play, UCLA is still relevant to college BB and Notre Dame and Michigan relevant to football.

Maybe you need to make your point clearer...

Texas should never lose a recruit to..?

Only a Saban or Meyer can turn it around...?

There are structural issues in the school that prevent it from becoming what it could be...? (that's a larger discussion)

you can count on one half hand the number of kids who would choose tech or TCU over a legit committable offer to either A&M or UT

Not good the last 5 years... that’s why I said that. Obviously A&M was better and look what happened. UT got back on top and won a national title.
