I like red beans but white beans are better

I know red beans are steeped in tradition and rule in Louisiana, and I’m certainly a fan, but I can’t be the only one who prefers white beans to red beans.

Same. White beans every time.

I do prefer white beans but I usually crave red a few times in the winter and will throw a pot together.

I cook and eat both with equal enthusiasm.
Also baby Lima’s, speckled butter beans, black eye peas, cream peas, pintos, black beans , Jacobs cattle beans, cranberry beans, snow cap beans all of which I have grown.
Not many I will pass up.
I grew up eating both great Northern and Navy pea beans whichever my mother was in the mood for. For some reason she always put a small dollop of ketchup in her bowl. Never seen anyone else do this.
I’ve been growing Cannellini beans and Hericot Tarbais beans which are thin skinned and using those for my white beans. I enjoy them. Whole Foods might carry them dry.
Make a cassoulet with them for something a bit different.

LOVE a good cassoulet. Ive been wanting to try cooking one with duck, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Made a pot last night with some turkey stock I made over the holidays pork fat and some very serious andouille. Lights out. So simple yet so tasty.

I'm a big fan of both. Depends on my mood. You really can't go wrong with either though.

I like both but we generally don't make white beans as a standalone meal like red beans.

I love white beans over rice and gravy served with a stuffed pork roast.

A big plate of white beans garnished with fried catfish fillets is one of the River Parishes finest contributions to Louisiana food.

Me
Any meat, beef, chicken, pork, fresh or smoked sausage, red beans.
Any seafood, fried fish, shrimp, oysters and or jambalaya, white beans
But there’s always exceptions

I know, prejudiced here, but white beans every time all the time. Occ baby limas or pintos. Not a red bean fan

Not every time, but I do prefer white beens. I just started a pot of great northerns with andouille and ham.

I like white beans as well, but a good red bean is hard to beat. I like my red beans creamy, a little over cooked, so they are nearly mushy.
I like my white beans a little more crunchy (but not undercooked)

Same for me. Red Beans are always a stand alone dish. White Beans are always a side for pork chops, fried fish, etc..

My wife thawed out some of her incredible dirty rice (with liver) for New Year’s Day and I added my black eyed peas over the top-hybrid hopping John. Good stuff.
