The on-court collapse of Florida star Keyontae Johnson may be connected to an earlier positive test of COVID-19, according to the Gainesville Sun.

Johnson has been diagnosed with acute myocarditis, which is also known as heart inflammation, a condition that is believed to occasionally result from certain cases of the virus.

quote:

The SEC Preseason Player of the Year, Johnson is expected to miss the remainder of the season. He was released from the hospital on Tuesday, his parents, Nika and Marrecus Johnson, said in a statement.

"We continue to be amazed at the pace of his recovery," they said. "Along with so many well wishes and prayers, we’ve understandably gotten questions about the cause and extent of Keyontae’s illness. As much as everyone involved wants firm answers, the process to draw definitive conclusions continues, and we ask for patience as the medical professionals continue their work.

Everyone at espn just high fived bc they can be right about the dangers of covid. It’s literally only been one athlete out of 45 sports

I fail to see how stopping sports could prevent this problem that affects a miniscule fraction of covid pts

Almost as if we will just follow the science and ignore all the science where more people were dying from this 20 years before China Virus was even printed in media

It would take a serious mental illness to not be able to figure out China Virus is rather irrelevant

Myocarditis causes...

quote:

Many viruses are commonly associated with myocarditis, including the viruses that cause the common cold (adenovirus); COVID-19; hepatitis B and C; parvovirus, which causes a mild rash, usually in children (fifth disease); and herpes simplex virus. Gastrointestinal infections (echoviruses), mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus) and German measles (rubella) also can cause myocarditis. It's also common in people with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

But let’s worry over COVID-19 only...

The cause is worth it

We know this because they were very silent when myocarditis was worse in previous years

The media and Karen’s are so excited they can hardly stand it!

Set aside the fact mayocarditis can arise from other viral infections (the common flu being one of them) and literally hundreds, if not thousands have other athletes have competed without issue since this ridiculous episode took hold. This one example, with completely unproven causation, will be the foundation for their emotional cries to shut down all sports. Not because they truly care about the well being of these people. But because they care about displaying to YOU how virtuous THEY are and are on a never ending quest to accumulate the most virtue signaling points.

They would only be hurting peoples whose jobs are sport-related. Us fans will just do something else.

Who fricking cares?

He tested positive for covid over in July. He then did a full cardiac evaluation including an echocardiogram which ruled out myocarditis .

It wasn’t covid that caused this 6 months later, but another virus or something else entirely

LOL, typical liberals. They will pump this and then realize they don’t have jobs because of it. Then the oh shite moment will happen for them.

I guess we shall see how many NBA owners buy in that this was an isolated event, due to Covid.
