Best online trading platform? Not Vanguard

I enjoyed Vanguard’s platform for a few years. But with this year’s change in the pace of the markets, I’ve been trading in more frequent intervals. Prior to funds settling. Vanguard warned me, then put my account on a 90 restricted status.

Needless to say, based on the speed of the modern market, I need to make a switch.

I’m hearing good things about Fidelity and Charles Schwab. Anyone else have any they’d recommend?

TIA.

My son just put me on to TD Ameritrade with the free "ThinkOrSwim" app. Pretty cool so far. You can try the ThinkOrSwim app without having to deposit $$ - just paper trades for practice.

I would give TD Ameritrade a shot.

I've heard good things about Schwab. I use Fidelity and I like it very much. But, I've never used anything else so nothing to compare it to.

There are laws around trading on unsettled funds regardless of broker. Are you wanting to trade on margin?

I like Webull but TDA seems pretty popular. Moved over from vanguard. Didn’t like that platform

TDA desktop is great.
thinkorswim mobile app is well reviewed but I never use it

Schwab bought TDA this year so I’m not certain what will happen in the future but I’m very happy with TDA. All trades are commission free except OTC and the research is excellent. Instant availability of funds on the buy and the sell side

I love the Etrade app. I also have Fidelity and I hate it.

You will get the same warning from Fidelity about unsettled funds. I'm pretty sure its industry practice for funds to be settled before buying more stock with those funds.

I have really liked E*TRADE. Full disclosure I don’t do any thing beyond basic trading though.

This will happen no matter where you go. If you sell positions bought with unsettled funds prior to the settlement date you will get the same time out.

I have opened a small account with Webull and like it. It is much better than Vanguard at tracking your daily changes on each position and their desktop and mobile apps are easy to navigate.

Totally get that. I actually applied to be approved to trade on margin status months and months ago with Vanguard. Sent in the stack of dinosaur age paperwork. I have held Series 7 and 66 Licenses for 10+ years. Didn’t hear anything back and assumed it was processed.

I've tried Webull and Etrade. I really like Etrade. Not a big fan of webull.

I use Fidelity and TDA... I prefer Fidelity's website. They have really improved it over the last few years

TDA is pretty awesome and simple for the average investor. If you are a trader, their Think or Swim platform is why most settle here. There is so much info at your disposal.

But like someone said, in Think or Swim, you can login with your account and use paper money and get all your experience , good and bad, and it not cost you a thing.

That is how you perfect options.

I use etrade. I've enjoyed it so far. I love using the calendars they have. Every earnings, dividend date, etc...is on there. I'm sure there's plenty on the site that I haven't uncovered yet.

Etrade Powertrade is good too.

Etrade here. I like their layout and it is more intuitive. Power Etrade is "live," clean and easy to find everything I need.
